hi microdudues,

if you were delt only one hand, 2 /images/graemlins/spade.gif2 /images/graemlins/club.gif, for the rest of your microlimit (.01/.02 to 1/2) limit hold'em career, would you be a winning player?

if not, then how high does the pair have to be before you start winning?

You will be quite easy to read after a while... Even at microlimit /images/graemlins/smile.gif

I don't think you'd be crushing the game. I don't think that there's anyone out there who's averaging >2 BB/100 with 22 from all positions, but I'd be a modest winner.

I do have trouble figuring out how to play low pocket pairs if I don't hit a set though.

As you're just starting out, playing "No set, no bet" poker when holding ducks is a very small mistake, especially compared to the mistakes you can make misplaying them. Start there, and as you get more experience and read here, you might some recognize some opportunities when you are ahead UI.

Edit: That is, if you're playing full games. HUSH, you could stand to be more aggressive, since you will win more UI.

I also assume everybody forgets you get 22 each time.

Absolutely, I would crush the game by playing very short-handed games.

If I had to play full 9-10 handed games, I could win if I could consistently find loose tables with 4-5 to the flop.

You can probably win in tight games raising every hand preflop (assuming people forget each time). I should do that math on this...

hi higherlimitdude (btw you got rocked on that 25NL hahahahahahahahahaha sucker)

i cannot think for myself so pokertracker says that the pair has to be either less than 55 or greater than 55.

over 52k hands of .5/1 i have made:

Hand BB/100
22 0.02
33 0.22
44 0.08
55 (0.18)
66 0.14
77 0.28
88 0.15
99 0.34
TT 1.04
JJ 0.95
QQ 1.61
KK 1.82
AA 3.38

so to answer your question seriously i would say i would want at least TT to be around the 1bb/100. and after looking through this i think i might have a possible leak of folding 77-99 too much... entity mentioned i might be folding too much and these hands i do drop like bad habits if i dont get favorable flops.

Yeah, TT puts you at about 10 BB/100. Glad BT noticed that so I can ride along on his coat tails and look cool. /images/graemlins/cool.gif

Am I forgetting to subtract the blinds??

Ok. 100 hands = 100 BB - 15BB (Blinds) = 85 BB = .85 BB/100. /images/graemlins/tongue.gif

If that's wrong, I'm quitting poker for ever. NOT.

TT earns 1.04 BB/hand for him. That means 104BB/100. Adjust for .75*10 (the blinds) and you get 96.5BB/100.

Stupid .25BB small blinds. /images/graemlins/mad.gif

Edit: So, how is comparing .96BB to 1BB considered sucky math again?

it was 1 BB/100 vs 100 BB/100. the units were wrong and peeps made some wrong conclusions..

anyway, back on topic.. 22 is plenty.
