i wish i would have thought of that
is that her new first name, last name, or is that her entire name?

she didn't even get close to the amount the virgin Mary grilled cheese got. She should've held out for at least another 20k.

At least this lets me know that Golden Palace has a lot more money for me to win and they're not going to go AWOL like Captain Cooks did.

why is she stupid? (other than the fact she should have gotten more cash)

I can't imagine changing my name to something like this.

But it's her right, and she needed the money. Good for her.

Are you going to pay her 15k?

She needs money. Unless you're going to pay her 15k, how can you judge her for taking it?

I dunno, I just have disdain for people who do stunts like this for a quick buck. I doubt very seriously she's that hard up for the cash. If she is, she shouldn't be trying to raise 5 kids. Definitely a cheesy move at any rate. And she has 5 kids who are now going to either be totally embarrassed to be around her or they are going to grow up thinking it's totally ok to do stupid things for a moderate amount of cash.

In the grand scheme of things, she isn't hurting anyone or anything, but I feel it's really dumb.

what if, say, cameltoe.com had won the auction? or maybe a filthy rich prevert won and said she had to change her name to "anal whore" or something of the sort. would she have to go thru with it? what are e-bay's rules on such things.

cheers!

i didnt see the auction, but she may have stated that offensive names will not be accepted or whatever, just like that guy did with his wsop advertising auction.

On a fairly related note, did goldenpalace ever reveal what was in the mystery envelope? I haven't found it released anywhere on the net, but it seems like they should have released it.

From England is a story from earlier this year about a snooker player who changed his name to get sponsorship.

I will give you $500 if you can provide me documentation showing that your name has been legally changed, and if you sign a contract stating I get that back if you change it again within 15 months.

Yes it does. Job queries, credit applications, anything that requires you to show ID. For example, I will need to show my ID to pick up my tickets for "O" at the Bellagio next week. This is a much bigger inconvenience than a piece of paper saying something different than what you want to be called.

The 33-year-old mother of five was inspired to auction off her identity to
the highest bidder after seeing GoldenPalace.com spend outrageous sums of
money on such items as the Virgin Mary Grilled Cheese Sandwich ($28,000), the
Ghost Cane ($65,000), one silicon breast implant belonging to a former Playboy
Cover Girl ($16,766), a pretzel shaped in the image of the Madonna and Child
($10,600), and dozens more outlandish auctions.

[/ QUOTE ]

she should have started the auction at 30k
