Many people have discribed the war in iraq as" a war for oil" many people said the same thing about the first golf war. If these wars really are about oil... why doesnt the united states just take it?? No one could stop the U.S.Europe and the left in america say that is what we went there for anyway. The US is already taking the flack... why not just take the oil?

Communists take things by force. Imperialists take things by subterfuge.

Because the Sec. of State is a former VP of Chevron, the VP headed a larger supplier of oil field services, and the President has gotten support from Big Oil for generations.

They aren't going to let the U.S. Govt. steal the profits.

Sounds good to me.
ARAMCO originally owned the Saudi Oil but the Saudi government "nationalized" the company.

Nationalization is the nice word for stealing or in this case pay someone pennies on the dollar with the message "accept the money or you will get nothing".

We could conquer the oil fields and return the pennies the Saudi Govt forced on us and take back the oil.
We would just be claiming back our old property..... And terrorist fund rasiers would lose a major sponsor...

"ARAMCO originally owned the Saudi Oil but the Saudi government "nationalized" the company."

And who gave permission for Aramco to "own" saudi oil? By your logic we should give all Iraqi oil back to British Petrolium, because at one point in the past they had the drilling "rights" there.

You have a bumper sticker that says "what's our oil doing under their sand?" on your car, don't you?

And sadly, I doubt you put it there as a joke.

I thgink we should consider telling all terror-sponsoring or terror-instigating states the following: that their oil will be taken as compensatory damages if we suffer another 9/11. ALL of it, that is.

At least, we should tell them in advance that they will be responsible for treble damages--and that we will collect.

Aramco was joint property of the Saudis and American businessmen.
The Americans provided money and technology. The Saudi's provided the land. The profits were shared. It was a WIN-WIN arrangement.

BUT....the Saudi's welched on the deal. They wanted all the profits themselves.....so they took the entire company for pennies on the dollar. So it is OK for the Saudi's to take things by force but not Americans? Same thing happen in Cuba, Castro stoled a lot of American property when he took over. In Jamaica, they nationalized an American owned bauxite mine. Under developed countries LOVE to have foreign investment and then to STEAL the investments leaving the investors with either nothing or paltry sums.... This is one of the main reason that foreign investments were so risky in the past. You could either make a lot of money or lose everything...

I don't know whether the Iraqis nationalized the Oil in Iraq. Did they steal BP equipment and drilling rights via "nationalization"? If they did then YES....they would have the right to take back their property by force.
If that is not the case, then my answer would be NO.

With regard to the Suez canal, the Egytians stole the canal from Britain via nationalization. Then in the 1950's, Britain/France seized the canal back. But that that moron Eisenhower pressured the British/French to return the Suez canal to the thieves.

TO BRITISH PEOPLE, on behalf of all Americans, I would like to apologize for Eisenhower's idiocy. Please forgive us. /images/graemlins/frown.gif

would any oil rich country in the middle east have been able to get to where they are now without the help of western oil companies??

GW Bush gave Iraq's oil to Halliburton by presidential decree. That order has already been posted in previous threads. Look it up.

Forging my quotes???!!!
Anyone can compare my original quote and your forgery.
This does not speak highly of your ethical upbringing or your honor.

But...,many Bush43 haters have used unethical means to attack him. For example, CBS's Dan Rather touted forged Microsoft Word documents on fax paper as being 35 year old proof that Bush43 did not fulfill his military duties...

You're just one of many that are willing to use dishonorable methods to attack Bush43. Welcome to the club. You have earned your way in.

You claim to have a PhD. Did you plagerize and cheat to win that? Based on your attempt to forge a quote...I wonder...

Dan Rather tried to prove this and he failed. .
Feel free to post your supporting evidence. Or can you? Ooops, I guess you can't....

BTW, Bush did received his honorable discharge.

I guess I don't find forgery as 'funny' as you do.
A supposed PhD should know this more than anyone....

And the day where I forge one of your quotes, feel free to rebuke me as well.

Forgery lol. Youd think I painted the Mona Lisa.

Thats classic.

Your reaction is even funnier than the intial play on words. Your sense of self importance is utterly stagering.

No, we just have a different view on what is ethical behavior.
If you carried that same ethical view on pursuing your PhD then perhaps one could question whether you truly earn your degree honestly.

But we are very different. When I make a mistake, I admit it, I apologize for my transgression, and I move on...
Perhaps you could actually look at this from my point of view in that; ....I don't know you well enough to know whether this was intended as a 'joke' or not.

Because that would be theft.

They are free to sell us all the oil that they want, but it would be awful to just take it.

We might very well see lower oil prices if we had better relationships with the Arab countries.

So, its OUR fault for not having better relations. Not their fault for price gauging, sponsoring terror, etc. etc. etc.

Your argument is moronic. Blame it all on the US you anti-American joke.

"I am not suprised you were unable to comprehend the words written in the article."

"Learn to read."

Almost every single post that you have made contains a personal attack. AngryCola was right. You really are nothing but a troll.
