Ok, it's 68º right now, with a high of 83º and the sky is clear. I need good poppy, make you smile music to best represent the day. This is definitely a genre that I'm lacking in my music collection. What songs/cds do I need?

Gotta go for the slightly older stuff man:

Mr Jones - Counting Crows
Life is a Highway - Tom Cochrane (I think)

I list more as I think of them. No music here at work.

If you download anything by the Counting Crows you might as well consider your day ruined.

Yeah, that, a few songs off Get Up Kids 'Guilt Show' album (which is the newest and doesn't suck), some old Phantom Planet, and NFG are what's been getting me by so far.

As for Summertime. Awesome, I'm on it.

EDIT: Oh yeah, it's 77º right now, with 27% humidity and a slight breeze. This is that usual span of 2 weeks in the spring, and then 2 more in the fall, that are just awesome weather.

The correct answer is and always will be...no exceptions at all....

The Rocket Summer.

Hands down the happiest and poppiest music of all time.

All his songs are about beautiful days, blue skies and how happy he is to be alive (some are about how much he loves everyone).

A bunch of diverse ones I can think of that are kinda happy, poppy music or somehow convey the return of warm weather...

Jet - "Are You Gonna be my girl" or "Rollover DJ"

311 - "From Chaos" or "Amber"

Blink 182 - "First Date" or "What's My Age"

Eagle Eye Cherry - "Save Tonight"

Blind Melon - "No Rain"

Hot Action Cop - "Fever For The Flava"

Red Hot Chilli Peppers - "Can't Stop" (mainly for the opening guitar riff...)

I'm pretty sure my recommendations win. /images/graemlins/grin.gif

Funny you should mention that. I've really been stuck on this mix lately that a local radio station did here:

Jet vs. Christina Aguilera - Are You Gonna Be My Dirty Girl.mp3 (http://www.f2f2s.com/Music/Jet vs. Christina Aguilera - Are You Gonna Be My Dirty Girl.mp3)

While I'm on that subject, my friend also made this one, which I've been listening to a lot (although California One, Body Blinging, and Rubberband Man/Reptilia are all good from him too):

Aubrey Kidd - Fischerspooner Told Me.mp3 (http://www.f2f2s.com/Music/Aubrey Kidd - Fischerspooner Told Me.mp3)

I don't remember what either of these sound like for sure, and I've only heard them once in my life (while on an airplane flying from Amsterdam back to America) but I've been meaning to download them or something. Anyway, if I recall correctly, I think they might be stuff you're looking for:

The Zutons - "Zuton Fever" and "Pressure Point"

San Diego = $$$$

Unfortunately, in more ways than one. Once I finish up school here though, grad school is a west-coast proposition. Try and make up for not takeing that scholarship at USC.
