View Full Version : A Hand vs. NLsoiler

I think this hand is much more interesting from NLsoiler's perspective, so I'll post his hand and you guys tell me what you think.

Hollywood Park 20-40. This game is playing surprisingly like the Mirage game. The local regulars are weak/tight, and the fish are good, juicy fish.

Preflop:
Very tight, way too passive postflop guy Raises in EP. NLsoiler coldcalls to his immediate left w/ T/images/graemlins/spade.gif 9/images/graemlins/spade.gif. A pretty decent woman who's on the phone talking (and seems to have been looking for reasons to not play hands while she's engrossed in the conversation) coldcalls, The Dude coldcalls in the CO. The blinds fold, four of us see the flop.

Flop: (9.5 SBs) J/images/graemlins/diamond.gif 7/images/graemlins/heart.gif 7/images/graemlins/club.gif
EP hesitates as though he wants to bet, but then decides it's not worth it and checks. Soiler checks, MP checks, The Dude bets. EP shakes his head and folds, Soiler calls, MP folds.

Turn: (5.75 BBs) A/images/graemlins/diamond.gif
Soiler checks, The Dude bets, Soiler calls.

River: (7.75 BBs) J/images/graemlins/heart.gif
Soiler bets, The Dude raises, Soiler calls.

Huh? If this is accurate it's awful. Every street other than maybe the flop (and that's a big maybe) is misplayed. The turn and river are horrible. Did he really call the river raise playing the board?

too much coldcallin'

Sure he is young and in fact underage but is he really now downgraded to "soiler". Thats straight up cold. And, BTW, I don't believe this hand. There is about zero chance that he coldcalled a "very tight" EP raiser with 9T unless there is a ton of info you are leaving out.

"Very tight, way too passive postflop guy Raises in EP"

NL apparently believes he can push this guy around post flop.

Dude, I do not think this is the perferred nomenclature.

Also, I don't see how he could win this hand against YOU. What I mean by that is that he should probably checkraise the turn, but you know he doesn't have an ace so it won't work.

I got to the end of the post before I realized you were dropping the 'd'. Your wit > my morning awereness.

I don't like the cold call pre flop. I see where he is coming from post flop, up to 10 outs on the flop and turn, and the river seems like it is a chop enough to call (but you know that, and he knows that, and you each know the other knows, but you bet anyway, but he knows you could bet here so you can bet when you have an ace or 7 or j or pp > 7 and get called, so my head hurts and I can see the call).

At any rate, I think the pf cc just leads to a bunch of pain. With cold callers in between I think it is fine, or in later position I could see raising, but I really do not like calling two cold in early position here.

I'm curious as to why you made up a hand that I supposedly played at a casino that I have never played at before /images/graemlins/confused.gif

You might as well have at least said it was at Oceans or something so that you could confuse me a little bit.

Did this hand actually happen with someone else or is it 100% fiction?

That really sucks that Soiler rivered you into a chopped pot. Good try to win the whole thing sir but Soiler is too smart for that.

I knew this was BS. Soldier is a testosterone filled noncoldcalling 3 betting machine. (He is a TEENager still after all)

I don't know about the testosterone part, but if he did decide to play a hand like T9s it'd for sure be a threebet.

The Dude, what's the point of this post?

Should I be happy that at least one person respects my game enough to immediatly call BS on this hand, or pissed that most of you actually believed it (*cough*) BK (*cough*) /images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Who said anything about respect? I have just had ample opportunity to see your lanky ass go on a 3 betting frenzy. We'll leave out the part about dropping 3 racks in the process. Oh whoops, I guess that's not leaving it out.
