This is a follow up to my "Our Rights?" post a while back. My wife is taking a few days off before joining the ranks of the Federally employed, and it makes me feel a bit nervous. She doesn't seem to share my paranoia and casually jokes about terrorists and bombs while speaking on the phone with her friends there (it's a military branch). When she does that, I feel my stomach tighten and tell her to knock it off. We used to joke about our conversations being taped while she worked as a consultant, now I would guess that the chance that it's true has jumped by at least 50%. Anyway, here's a link to the ACLU's website. It doesn't link to a specific article, but there are many regarding the erosion of constitutional rights in the U.S. after 9/11. I'd be interested to hear the many points of view of this forum. I don't feel like a conspiracy theorist yet, but I'm starting to lean that way. Maybe I should read up on TWA flight 800 again. I still feel like my rights have been diminished and that OBL, if he’s truly behind the “jihad” on America has devastated more than the Pentagon and the World Trade Center. The first link was too slow, so I skipped to the second one. These are the stories that scare me. Idiots who think it's patriotic to harrass people who dare to question the actions of our country. I shudder to think that the majority of our nation is dim enough fall into this category.
