Given that the villian here is 75/11 over 70 odd hands, ag factor of 2.85, what would have been a better line of play?

I don't like the PF limp. You've got position, so raise it or fold it.

Why are you capping the river, exactly?

How about capping the flop, then if he leads the turn, you can be comfortable calling down from there. K /images/graemlins/heart.gif is not one of your clean outs. I might not raise river. No way I'd cap.
