I am the BB, all the players are unknown to me. Is a good play? Figured calling would be bad because I would be out of position and I'd hurt my stack too much to just call. I felt like I couldnt fold a hand like this, I thought the best option would be pushing. When he moved over top of me I knew I was beat and i proceded to lose to TT. Was this a bad play? Thanks

Would you push 22 there?

22 - no.
99 - yes.

trying to get everything straight. so with 22, you should just fold and wait for a better spot? That sounds logical to me, with 22 if anyone calls you are at best a coinflip. Is this the proper thinking?

Yes.
I don't think A8 or 88 calls you here, so 99=22.
Spade has 20xBB...he's hardly desperate.

99 != 22

You'll get called by 33, 44, 55, 66, 77, 88 as well as A2-A8 often enough to where there's a huge difference between 22 and 99.
