yeah, but boy "26-6" isn't quite as fun and cutting as "1918" or "Curse of the Bambino", is it? Sorry about that.

It's safe to say that any sense of Yankee mystique has been forever destroyed, and any 'fear' that the Sox (players and fans) had of the Yankees is now also gone.

but if it makes you feel more secure to keep posting Buckner pictures, then don't let me stop you /images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Q: Why does Stephen King go to Red Sox Games?
A: He likes horror stories.

Q: Why did Fenway Park build seats over the Green Monster?
A: So Bucky Dent could find his home run balls.

AND MY FAVORITE:

Q: Why is a paternity test never necessary for Pedro Martinez's parents?
A: Because everyone knows who "Pedro's Daddy" is.

i think it's great the yankees' fans are bothering w/ red sox jokes. It certainly means we’ve finally hit a nerve. after almost a century of being second best, the tables have finally turned and the red sox get to be the smug ones w/ nothing to prove.

now the mere sight of red sox tickets are inflaming the yankees’ fans into a frenzy. i love it.

I know Boston fans here that are much bigger Boston fans than 90% of the people who live in Mass and claim to root for the Sox.

what defines the biggness of a fan? is it overall weight? /images/graemlins/tongue.gif

see i was born in boston and have rooted for the red sox every single year since i was old enough to remember (probably 86 to be honest). i remember wade boggs stories, hearing about clemens having incedents at logan. watching nick esasky and jack clark put on sox uniforms. i remember matt young picthing for us, watching dave stewart and clemens square off in the playoffs. reading about 25 players and 25 cabs etc etc etc. see im kind of old school i guess, and think that the team you root for should be in direct corrleation to where you grew up or at least spend a signifigant portion of your life. i understand when somebody from indiana has to root for a team, but why is it always the yankess? and now the sox? why does everybody have to be 'cool'?

Example: John Kerry is a Red Sox "fan". Manny Ortez is his favorite player.

yeah that is an excellent example.

[/ QUOTE ]

I know you're just trying to make a point, but...
The vast majority of fans in Indiana are either Cubs or Cards fans, with a smaller Reds following in the southeastern part of the state. The point is that the majority of fans in a particular area are going to root for the team that is closest. You'll always have a few who don't want to follow the crowd and root for other teams for other reasons, so you get random people like "Brilliant in my Opinion" pulling for the Red Sox in a sea of hicks. Once you've made the decision not to root for the hometown team, who are you going to root for? Probably a very good team with a strong national following

Your team is very good right now. You have a strong national following. You're going to have bandwagon fans. Get used to it.

Admittedly, .325 is pushing it. But he's hit .310 with 40+ HRs 3 times. I really don't care if he hits 50 home runs, he is after all our #2 hitter. If Womack can get on base in the nine spot and Arod can his .315, he'll have a ton of RBI's.

I actually liked Mussina when he was with the Orioles and still respect him as a Yankee. When he's on he's absolutely amazing to watch, how he completely baffles everyone he faces. Too bad he's got no heart.

If you want him to get a ring so bad, trade him. /images/graemlins/blush.gif /images/graemlins/grin.gif

Moose as in Mussina? Mike Mussina? You like Mike Mussina? The pitcher? If ever there was a primadonna....

My favorite player.

So you like ARod and Mussina? Thanks to whoever suggested the "ignore this user" button.

Agree with this. Case in point was Game 1 of the ALCS last year. However, bitching about days off and/or jetlag and/or (insert excuse) after a bad outing is tough to ignore.

I vote myself for random post of the day:
Apperently some patriots day tickets are still available. I went online and the first ticket that came up was Secion 36 Row 12 Seat 21...it rung a bell. And wouldnt you know I would be sitting right next to JoeTall. I go to buy the ticket and the computer restarts and now the ticket is lost in cyberspace.

Update: When restarting I went to go buy a ticket first one was different..I wanted two bleacher seats second one is nex to JoeTall

You really need to calm down and not take things so seriously.
Your first post made it look like you were a New Yorker who was jumping on the Red Sox bandwagon, but if you've been a Red Sox fan your whole life, that's cool.

A-Rod doesn't hit for avg anymore.

Now he hits for power.

Dead's 2005 projected stats for A-Rod:

.299/48/123

[/ QUOTE ]

how many times do you foresee him slapping the ball out of the first baseman's glove like a little girl this year?

let's see, the year you get "one of the greatest players in history" is also the year you lose to the red sox. oh boy, can we trade schilling for arod???

C'mon guys, it doesn't matter whether Paluka is jumping on the bandwagon or has been a Red Sox fan all his life. The main thing is he's a Red Sox fan now.

At least for this year anyway.

He does have a heart. I'm glad to hear the Mussina love. He's not a primadonna like Brett said. Missing part of Spring Training last year, because of the death of his father-in-law, really did screw up his pitching.

I think that he's going to have 2003-like numbers this year: 3.50 era, 18 wins, etc.

And I never even used to hate the Yankees until they started to embody pure greed and no team chemistry.

Dead, are you the same person that "guarenteed" that Syracuse, UConn, and Gonzaga were going to be in the final four? yeah...i think so.

in any case, you posted those pictures at the beginning with the obvious intent of wanting to argue sox fans. good job. its almost as if theres this sort of...dislike? between redsox and yankee fans. anyway, congrats on reitterating what red sox fans already know: you hate them; they hate you. the early posters are right though, since you dont have "the great curse" to fall back on, you (yankee fans) will invent new ways to piss off red sox fans. i somehow think that "26-6" will not be on any posters when the redsox visit the Bronx.

Does Amherst, MA count? (Well...that since 1990. From 1983- it was Northampton, MA.) And the best reception for the Sox-Yankees games was on the NY station, so I had to listen to that raging [censored] yelling "ThEEEEeeeeEEEEeeeeEEEEEeeeEEEE Yankeeeees win!" Not exactly what a 5-year-old wants to hear while curled up next to the static-filled radio rooting for his team. Not that I'm scarred. And [censored] the Yankees.

I've been living in/near los angeles since 1998, and hearing people celebrate the 2004 ALCS as they drove by my pub was among the best things ever. The WS was almost an afterthought.
