Odd. I'm a non-believer, but the day after Christmas (that's when the first one happened, right?) and the day after Easter? Very strange.

If that many people do die, I will lose a lot of respect for the general human life.

How long does it take for all that water to move?

REuters are reporting casualties (from the earthquake, not a tsunami)

Wouldn't that be awesome to see a tsunami in person?

Tsuanamis can travel upwards of 500mph I believe. Basically, people MAY get a few hours warning, depending on their distance from the epicenter of the quake.

The indonesian tsunami is more of a 30 foot swell. I wasn't kidding when I said I'd grab a surfboard. There were a lot of people that were on the beaches that survived. The ocean floor is a gentle slope so there is no break.

People are evacuating so it looks like at least some of the people learned their lesson. I can only hope the US has as well.

It you want a wall of water, check out this tsunami:

1,640 feet high.

Alaska gets hit by large tsunami's all the time. 100-200 footers are rather common up there.
