This is my last hand to post from this weekend - promise /images/graemlins/wink.gif

The BB played well postflop, and I wasn't interested in him spoiling my hand with this total fish at MP2.

I get uncertain what to do when someone calls my bet on the flop in these situations. Do I bet until he stops me? If I bet the turn and he calls, do I check/fold the river? I get confused with all these overcards to my pair and someone who won't just smile and hand me the pot /images/graemlins/smirk.gif

The flop bet is standard.

Consider the turn. You have 4th pair and 3 cards in the playing zone that are showing. There is no flush draw on the flop so he either has a piece or he has a straight draw. When the Td hits on the turn he either gained a piece or made a straight. The pot is small. Check/fold. This is not a good spot to keep hammering.

Would you bet the turn again if a rag fell?

Yes.

Why are you isolating? Try this line. Call preflop, check flop. Fold if they bet. If the turn rags off you can bet out to pick up the pot. I think it's problematic that you even think of isolating him as you're highest ev approach in this spot.

I probably wouldn't if the guy was truly LPP. He's calling down with some kind of pair, draw, or for the hell of it. Most of the time I'm behind, and if he has a pair I'm never getting him to fold it before the showdown.

This is player dependent. Some opponents will always peel on the flop and fold the turn. They are 'turn folders'. Against them, I would bet. If he's a 'flop folder', then I check/fold. If he will only bet on the river with top pair or 2nd pair then I fire away on the turn and check/fold the river. Basically, I don't want to be up against a player who will make me pay 2 bets to see this showdown, even if I have a better hand.

I like my hand a lot better HU against a random hand than 3 handed with someone else that knows how to play well postflop...also, my hand has great PF equity against a random hand

His hand isn't totally random, he's going to have 2 overs almost all of the time and he's going to call with pairs while you try to push him off of them which gives him an edge. I really think you're losing a lot of value playing 77 like this out of the sb. By taking the initiative preflop you then enter into discussions of how long should you keep the initiative going.. I think you can see that playing 77 that way and having to keep betting at the pot with a most-likely loser if called isn't so great. Don't be afraid to play from the flop on.
