View Full Version : how would this life sound to you?

You are a bachelor living in NJ, 20 minutes away from AC, in a nice town with good night life. You live in a 2 bedroom apartment, nicely carpetted, beautiful walls, furniture, artwork, tvs, etc. You share your space with your choice of pets.

The sun rises in the morning and you wake up according to your natural biological clock. You feed your animals. You get dressed and pack your gear, getting ready to go to the gym which is located within walking distance right down the block from you. Once you get there, you run your daily 2 miles and work on free weights. You get a game of racquetball/tennis in with some locals, and share some conversation over lunch.

You head back to your apartment by around 1pm, and hop into your jacuzzi which is located in your very own bathroom. While sulking, you watch some tv on your beautiful screen, which is located within a few feet of your spa.

After a bathing for a little under and hour, you get up and take a nice nap on your temperpedic mattress. Once you awaken, you stroll on over to your computer center, where you 4-8 table until its time to arrive to your dinner plans.

Some days you come back home emptyhanded to accompany your pet(s), and continue your online endevours, and some days you have a nice lady laying by your side while you are in a hibernating trance, waiting for a new day to begin.

ive just recently tapped into online play. ive been a b&m player up until now. i still dont feel comfortable moving away from a casino location, considering that i have no form of income other than poker. i also dont want to move out west yet. my parents live in southern ny, and im still barely a minor.

Why not live in New York and play at the clubs there every once in a while? NYC at a young age is a pretty awesome place to be.

some people desire more from life than being able to go to the gym and have art work on their walls and carpet.

everyone has free will, so get at it.

today i hitchhiked on the back off a pickup truck filled with watermellons, here in thailand.

Sounds pretty good to me, but instead of "running" and "lifting" I'd snowboard every single day... Because I sure do love snowboarding.

So I guess that means I'd have to get the hell out of New Jersey.

So nevermind, it's a terrible plan and I hate it.

I think its very possible to have a very great life playing poker, if you are the right person for it. Only spending a few hours a day playing online poker, and the rest spending your time enjoying the other great things life has to offer. Personally, that life is not for me, I have trouble balencing poker and life enoguh as it is, but it could be done.

Holy crap!
That sounds like my plan for the summer!
Minus the 2 mile run, the pets and New Jersey.

Also, I'm in the Pacific Time Zone so I can play poker from 3-8ish then play tennis at lit courts (less hot during the evening). Then when I get back, I can play some more poker.

[/ QUOTE ]

You get really stuck in a game one night and instead of stopping at 10pm to go out like you planned, you end up playing 'til 6am, when you quit, frustrated and exhausted. You get up at 3 in the afternoon, annoyed at how messy your place is. You think about cleaning up but instead decide to get in an hour or two of poker before going to the gym. You win a little, but you're still thinking about your big loss from the night before. If you go to the gym now, by the time you're back, it'll be time to start getting ready for dinner and going out, so you decide to skip the gym. You heat up some leftover pizza and sit back down to play some more poker. Next thing you know it's 8pm and you're ready to meet some friends, but the game is really great and maybe you can get unstuck, so you decide to meet them at the club later. Amazingly, you manage to lose in this insanely good game, so at 11pm instead of heading out, you decide to keep playing. Next thing you know it's 6am again and you're exhausted, so you leave your plate and stuff on the table, toss your clothes on the floor, and collapse into bed. You think about getting back on a schedule and actually doing something fun next week, since you've been living like this for far too long, playing too much online poker when you're winning and playing too much online poker when you're losing. Maybe next week, as soon as you have a nice big upstreak, you'll take a few days off from poker and focus on other stuff.

I suspect for many people, that type of scenario is much more likely than the one you describe.
