View Full Version : My Actual Masters Pick

I didn't shop a bunch of lines. I looked in two sportsbooks for lines. They didn't have as many options as I expected. I almost bet Tiger to miss the cut @ long odds at Caesars. Nobody makes money in the long haul betting against Tiger, right? I passed. At the Mirage I took an exciting and talented player. Field.

Field includes Olazabel. And Kuchar. And others of course. Go field, go. I'll report in next Sunday to be laughed at.

What was the price?

+300. But I think this only means anything in the context of the exact golfers in the field at a particular casino. There was a big difference in available bets just between Mirage and Caesar's, so I'd guess there is a lot of difference among the others. I don't have the list here in front of me to tell you who had specific odds and who is left over. But the guy I was going to look at betting was in the field, so I bet field. Field wins a lot of tournaments. I didn't study or agonize about the pick so YMMV.

Regarding the previous Masters thread, WSEX had MUCH better lines than any Vegas book that I saw when I was there 2 weeks ago. I put more on DiMarco in the markets that they have. Effectively 33-1 there, and you can sell your position any time during the tournament at the going price. I'm hanging my hat on him and Olazabel this week.

Sergio worries me, so I put a little on him to back myself up. I really don't think Tiger is going to win this week. And once again, Mickelson won't win. He puked all over himself again last weekend when he had a chance to run away with it.

Good luck.

My sheet from the Mirage as of April 1 had Tiger 3-1, Phil 6-1, Sergio 12-1, DiMarco 20-1, Goosen 30-1.

Does anybody know a good way to organize a Masters Office Pool?

I was in one last year that gave each person a fixed amount of cash to purchase player... I think it was like 10 M or something.. You buy players based on their performance on last year's tours (money list)... Then at the end of the week, we added up total prize money and the pot went to the highest... It's very deceiving in the way that the winner had Tiger and Faxon (I think), and still beat people who had Mickelson and Duval..

Another way to do it is stroke play.. Everyone chooses x guys (ten or twelve maybe).. Total score wins.. This is much less complicated..
