View Full Version : A rare check raise....no real content $3-$6 at the Taj

I had about an hour to kill Friday night before a tournament so I took an open seat in a $3-$6 game to relax and unwind.

I had only played one other hand before this one. I defended my big blind with A3 and turned two pair. I check raised the turn and got called down. I had the winning hand.

I limp utg with 88. The button raised and everyone called your truly included.

The flop came J 7 2

I checked and it got checked to the button and he bet. I decided to raise and everyone folded to the button and he called.

Turn K J 7 2

I bet and he folded.

That I would check raise this flop with this hand against these players.

The play is supposed to protect a weak hand by facing the field with two cold. If the play fails to fold out all those hands it loses alot of value.

Re-read Mike's answer, thats not what I was commenting about. I was surprised that he rarely tries this play.

This play I use in the 10 game or above, it NEVER works at the lower limits.

Why? Thats how I would play it.

I considered these guys calling stations. I make this play against thinking players.

I still cant believe these guys folded /images/graemlins/tongue.gif
