I'm writing a paper on internet gambling legislation and I'm looking for current statistics on usage and revenue. How many people are gambling online, how much is being wagered, etc. Google is little help, as every site it brings up is either six years old or trying to get me to gamble. Thanks in advance.

Two places to check out:

1) Christiansen Capital Advisors (http://www.cca-i.com/) - The foremost experts on internet gambling stats and info. Lots of good stuff on their site you could use.

2) River City Group (http://www.igamingnews.com/) Also a very good source for egaming related info. Not sure this site will be as useful as you have to pay for the really good content and publications they produce.

This should point you in the right direction but if you need anything else in particular let me know.... i have quite an extensive list of sources for egaming publications.

I had just found that before I read your post. Thanks. The estimated revenue is a good start, now if I can figure out how many people are gambling online, I can get past the generic "look at how many people are doing this" part of my paper and get to the good stuff.

I think USAToday had a big article on this recently. May have been NCAA Tourney related but could've been poker related.

I think so.

The betting bonanza marks the annual jackpot for the fledgling online-gaming industry, which collected $15 billion to $20 billion in sports bets from Americans last year, gaming consultant Michael Tew and other market researchers say.

Thanks, but I wouldn't subject you to that. Ideally, this monster will only be read by 2 people. Thanks again for your help, think I have all the stats I need.
