View Full Version : How do I keep this from happening?

How do I keep from getting sucked-out by (fellow) fish? Here are two of the most recent examples at the $11 SnG buy-in at Stars. I guess I should make a full pot-sized bet (or more?) on the flop? I know, I know, once I got called on my turn bets I should have shut it down (especially when the 3rd club came on the first hand), but it's just too tempting to keep going since at this buy-in they will often call to the river with just a pair.

I've found the few times when I've play the higher buy-ins ($33+) I seem to do much better, since the table isn't just calling everything with any two cards. This has been happening a lot and is very frustrating...

You prevent yourself getting sucked out on the first one by folding it pre-flop. The second is pretty much unavoidable

He was BB in the first hand. You're saying he should muck as his option, when the action comes to him unraised?

You mean I should fold the BB even though nobody raised pre-flop??

Oh, I do appologise, didn't look hard enough. Well in that case they're both long term +EV, so no problems.

Perhaps I should re-phrase: "How should I adjust my betting patterns to minimize getting drawn out?"

You shouldn't. Every time you get outdrawn, you win money. Your bankroll might not increace that day, or that month, or that year, but in the end the fact that your opponent had to get lucky to beat you shows up in winnings.
