I always go to far with these hands then dump them on the river.

I had villain on an overcard flush draw. 88 or 99 were of course possible.

I felt my hand would hold up if the flush didnt hit.

Is this poor play and or a poor read? I hadnt played many hands with villain to this point.

villian probably had you outkicked (I see A7), or a set, or an overpair, but probably not a flush draw as in most cases he would have taken the free card on the turn. i c/f this turn. it's tough from the BB when you flop top pair. i bet out too on the flop but when i'm raised and bet into on the turn i'm not happy.

The sad thing is that there is a real chance that I'd be happier if somebody gave me a cookie than if I won a giant pot. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

cheers.
Read p146 so apparently i should have dumped it to the flop raise.

That makes sense.

thanks

or call the flop raise and fold UI. you didn't have a deuce kicker, as in the book's example. in this particular case, i fold the turn but call the flop raise.

How can you call the turn bet then fold the river? clearly folding the turn is the right play.

Check/fold the turn.

Calling the turn and then folding the river is pretty bad.
