I would check/call the river. There are several worse hands MP1 could call with but the tendency of loose players to play any Ace makes it unlikely you'll be good more than 50% of the time when called.

I would have played it the same. If he's an acehole, so be it. He's been afraid to raise with top pair before, I doubt he's gonna raise when the board pairs.

That's a pretty standard line IMO and how I always play these, folding to a raise.

This is the standard passive fish calling station. He really wanted to check/call you all the way to the river, but he was out of position.

The hand should have looked like this:

Flop: (5.50 SB) 4, A, 2 (2 players)

IMO, this is one of those hands where neither player really knew what to do.

You know that many of these low limit players play "Ax" so you're not too confident in your KKs, but you have to at least test the waters on the flop and turn.

You raised pre-flop and came out betting right into the A. So he has to think there's a pretty good chance you have AK. So he doesn't want to raise.

Maybe I would have check-called the river, but personally, I don't think there is a right way to play this hand.

Get a read on the player. Find out what he is willing to call down with. Find out what he is willing to value bet the river with. Lacking a read, this will *ALWAYS* be awkward (and even then, it will still be hard).
