View Full Version : Raised overcards and checked the flop?

I'm taking a slightly different approach from most posts in this forum. Instead of posting a hand and asking for a critique, I'm asking you to post hands in this thread.
Criteria:
Hero is the preflop raiser with AK-AT, KQ-KJ.
2-4 players see the flop.
You miss the flop and now have the dreaded overcards.
Hero checks the flop, especially when last to act. I'll also consider hands where hero check/folds the flop. (Is this ever correct with overcards?)

Please include a brief commentary about why you played it the way you did, or at the very least some reads so I can try to understand myself which situations are better to do this in.

I've looked through 50 or 60 AKs and AKo hands, and I haven't found a single instance where I folded the flop when I wasn't calling 2+ UI, unless it's a 3-flush board and I have no flush draw and it's a nasty field. I don't think I've ever checked through a flop when I'm last to act unless I was trying to mix it up.
