dude, the only book you need is the phil hellmuth book. it teachers you all the basics like "top 10 hands" "position" and even gets you into that math crap like pot odds. IMO, math is useless in poker unless you can get good reads on your oppentents. And you can't get good reads on your opponents unless you buy Phils DVD "Guide to bluffing and tells"

Here's my situation. I'm thinking about quitting my job and "turning pro". I'm 31 years old. I currently live with my mom, but that's only temporary because she thinks I'm not very smart and it makes her feel better to be able to do my laundry and make my lunch and other stuff that is hard for me. I have a good job at the Winn-Dixie, but I don't like it and the manager is mean to me and makes me do all the bad jobs.

Butt I started playing poker like a couple of months ago after I saw it on TV and read Phil Hellmuth's book (He rocks!). And I'm really good at it. I already made like $100 dollars playing online already.

So now I think I could go pro and quit my job. Then I could make a lot of money and move out of my mom's house. What do you guys think?

Great, you guys are not only tapping the glass--you are pounding it with a hammer. Why can't you guys just watch them a military recon operation? You can learn how they think. Also, there are SOME guys there who have a clue and I've seen them correct the ones who don't. Some of the posts there are ok.

That reminds me of my One Big Idea Theory. I believe that there is always OBI to be gleaned. A $29.95 book doesn't have to have gems of wisdom on all 300 pages. OBI could very well pay for the book. Same with fish forums. There could be OBI if you keep your eyes open...

Anyway, the free insight into their collective psyche may soon be a thing of the past.
