Re: the Black Eyed Peas song.

I heard the NBA-ized version (Let's get it Started) before I heard the original, and now the original just sounds goofy to me.

Anyone else have this problem?

I guess that's the difference between "art" and "entertainment." Entertainment is something that can/should be changed to the whim of the masses. Art is made by people who care.

I'd be pretty pissed if I wrote a song and someone wanted me to change the words because they found it offensive.

To each his own, man. For a million or so, I'd probably sing about being mentally challenged too. But I wouldn't want to change a song I'd written about being mentally challenged to an upbeat crowd lifter.

Maybe if it was one of those quarry dump trucks that are bigger than my house, and I got to keep the truck.

Im pretty sure the original song wouldnt apply to the NBA. Maybe the WNBA or special olympics.

Well, I'm pretty sure they changed it because the spots ran near the start of the season, which fits a lot better with "Let's Get it Started," than "Let's Get Retarded."

Unless you're the Trail Blazers. Then "Let's Get Retarded" would have been perfect.

yes, i agree. when my gf was singing "lets get retarded..." i yelled at her and told her she ruined the song. Turns out black eyed peas ruined teh song first.
