View Full Version : Ever Noticed an Error by the site? Why did this pot get chopped?

Playing on PokerRoom, Just started up with the site after reading many favorable posts about the lack of quality play in general. Playing a $10 SNG when I'm quite certain the game made a mistake. Being new to the site, I have yet to understand how to view my hand history. I sent the 24hr help line an email with the hand #. No response yet.

Basically here is what happened.....dealt A /images/graemlins/diamond.gifJ /images/graemlins/heart.gif late position. Raised 3x BB. Small Blind Raised All in, only 1 BB more than my raise, easy call. SB shows Q /images/graemlins/diamond.gifJ /images/graemlins/diamond.gif.
Flop : 6 /images/graemlins/spade.gif5 /images/graemlins/diamond.gif3 /images/graemlins/club.gif Turn:4 /images/graemlins/spade.gif River:5 /images/graemlins/club.gif
Result - pot is chopped 1/2 to me 1/2 to SB
WTF?????
I asked the other players at the table if they saw what happened....no response. Bunch of mutes.

Has something similiar ever happened to anyone else???

Are the hand historys for PokerRoom stored on my hard drive similar to party?

Are you sure they were both 5s? Is it possible that one of them was actually a 2, putting a str8 on the board?

My wife did have something like that happen on Stars (she only plays on play money tables), but she didn't know about noting hand numbers, so there's no way to confirm it now. I suspect she just misread something; it was at something like 3am, and she was probably wiped out (she has a bad habit of not going to bed when she's tired; but then, I'm no one to talk...).

I thought the same thing. When the pot was awarded, it said ____wins $xxx with a pair of 5's and ____wins $xxx witha pair of 5's.

I realize this sounds strange and once I get to check out my hand history it will be reconciled. I did not make an mistake reading the board, my hand, or opponents hand. I am confident of that.

What I want to chat about is anyone having the experience of a software error. I'm talking about a freakin glitch in the code. Surely I can't be the first guy to see this, I'm not that good or observant.

Yeah, just thought I'd ask (I've done tech support, and in that field, you really do have to ask if the power cord is plugged in sometimes...). /images/graemlins/smile.gif

Anyway, it sounds like you have a legitimate beef, and I think their support people need to jump on this right away. It's too serious an error to let slide. Sorry I don't have any direct experience with this sort of thing, maybe someone else has seen it, though. Good luck, and I'd be interested in seeing their response and any resolution.

I suspect it's possible, but I'm not confident of it. I would like to see the HH for myself, but at the moment, I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt.

thanks Mike

I'll post a follow-up when I here something back from them.

I'll certainly post a follow-up and admit my suspected mistake in reading the hand, if it turns out that way.

Any know where PokerRoom hands are stored? Are they on your computer?

Another possible scenario........
you started the hand with 300
he started the hand with 900
you both go all in pf
you win 300 + your original 300 =600
he gets back the extra $ he had =600

..... It just looks like you chopped

....Im betting on this one /images/graemlins/smile.gif

Depends. If you're playing the Java version through your browser, then no, they're not on your computer.

If you're playing the downloaded software version, there should be a database file named something like "UsernameTexasReal" in a subdirectory in the PokerRoom folder of your Program files. You can open the database with PT and find the HH.
(Not at my home computer so can't check what it's called exactly, sorry.)

If you have the precise HH #, you can get the HH through the software or their website (I think). Unfortunately, you can't just request your last X number of hands from Pokerroom -- you need the actual HH # and get them one at a time.

Hope this helps.

No. For PokerRoom hand histories, open the client, go to statistics, show session browser, click on the session. This will give you the tables played, net earn/loss,etc. in session details. Highlight the table and click show hands, which will give you all hands played at that table. Find the hand and click hand history. Pain in the ass if the table session was a long one.

I saw something stranger happen a while back in a omaha hi-lo tourney at planet poker (before the new software). Some dude made a str8 flush and it gave him the low but not the high because the other guy had the ace high flush. It was very strange (obviously a bug in the software). I guess it happens. Send 'em an e-mail...what did they say?

It even said "joeblow wins with ace high flush"
