Betting round in Hold'em

Hi,
I want to know, how each round of betting works. Because when I play online, sometimes I have to check or bet twice in each round, and sometimes not. Can you please explain what is the rule for every round?

you should never have to check twice in a single round. but if you bet and someone else raised the bet, it will come to you again and you can fold/call/reraise.
