By our very own Tommy Angelo. The whole CD (5 or 6 songs) is about poker. I downloaded the sampler from his website, it's good stuff.

Speaking of which, where the heck has Tommy been?

Hey Andy- speaking of "cool", I think Tommy should write a song about the Babe /forums/images/icons/smirk.gif LGPG

First 3 are some of Babe's Best Boys. The Matchbox 20 singer is a cute one, for sure /forums/images/icons/tongue.gif Ditto Beck and Steve Tyler. LGSG (look good, sing good) And...rock your BABE! /forums/images/icons/cool.gif

Ian- If Dylan spent some time with the Babe, he would be writing about LOVE.... /forums/images/icons/smirk.gif Of course, he LBSB (looks bad, sings bad) so he is NOT one of BBB (Babe's Best Boys). /forums/images/icons/grin.gif

This may be one of those 'songs you kinda know the words to' things. If anyone has the Wings collections that came out last year, listen to 'Juniors Farm.' I think there is a line that goes something like "You shoulda seen me in the poker game. I had a honey and I bet a grand. Just in the nick of time I looked at his hand." Of course, I don't hear so well after 25 years of concert going so I may be wrong.

Also:\
Don't you draw the queen of diamonds boy,
she'll beat you if she's able.
The queen of hearts is always your best bet.
Desperado by the eagles.

Thanks for reminding me....The song is actually called, "Lilly, Rosemary and the Jack of Hearts" if I remember correctly and is on Blood on the Tracks. "Lilly had two queens, she was hoping for a third to match her pair..."

But Babe, it's true that Dylan has led a tough existence and no longer looks or sounds too good, but go back and listen to all those love songs! Back in the day, he looked great, he sang great and he wrote more amazing songs of any sort than just about any songwriter, ever.

"The man he held a diamond flush, Willie didn't even have a pair."

IMHO Dylan can still sing. His last album Love and Theft is awesome! Blood on the Tracks is still my fave but Love and Theft is right up there.

and I got no chance in losin' this time"

Dylan's lyrics are cool, and in fact he wrote one of my all time favorites (All along the Watchtower). Sorry, guys, I just do not dig his look or his voice. Babe

The great Webb Wilder (the last of the Full Grown Men) has a song called "Meet The New Landlord" that has the line (paraphrasing, here): "He slapped his cards down on the table and said, 'Boys, I got me a winning hand.'"

Jerry Reed's "The Uptown Poker Club" from waaaaay back in the mid-70's is pretty hysterical.

And while not "poker" songs, I'd be remiss if I didn't at least mention "Casino Queen" by Wilco and "40 Miles to Vegas" by Southern Culture on the Skids.

Smoking something-or-other since waaaaay back in the mid-70's.
