30+3, 5 left, 75/150, I'm barely in 3rd place with 1800 after posting SB. 10k chips in play.

It's folded to me, and I have 8 /images/graemlins/spade.gif9 /images/graemlins/spade.gif. BB has 850 left after posting. He likes to limp but has not been calling other steal attempts thus far. I'm 2 for 2 in steals over the last three orbits. I'm also the tightest at the table having played the fewest hands and having lost only one showdown to a rivered flush.

What's your bet size, and why?

Any raise I make would pot commit me so if villain reraises all in I wouldnt be folding. So now I might as well put him all in to maximize my chances to win without a fight.

Allin is correct IMO. By this I mean that my default play here is to raise allin. You don't want to encourage someone by making a smaller raise here with 98s.

all-in...and there are 8,000 chips in play...not 10,000.

because what are you going to do when you make it 600...and big blind goes in for 950? fold? no..you'll have to call that...so might as well poooooosh!!!

I call.

Nobody has heard of this, I know.

But I'm comfortable outplaying them post flop, and if he's passive, he'll check the vast majority of the time.

Not raising doesn't mean passive.

so good thread to share my dilemma

admittedly i get ultra aggressive as the game gets later. stealing/attempting to steal typically more then once an orbit. what ive been finding tho is because of this i seemed to get called with crap alot. more often then not im ahead but iwhen i get busted it drills me.

i've incorporated the call then get aggressive post flop play somewhat as a defense for the bs calling. comments?

I actually haven't used the call and out-aggro post-flop move much, but I'm seriously considering incorporating it a little. I've found that if I steal even once an orbit for three orbits, I start getting LOOSE calls, like any ace, K7+, JT and QT+, any pair, which is not what I want if I'm pushing with K6 or 98s. Do people really think it's always worse to call and push if you hit the board or if opponent checks, even if opponents have been getting REALLY hesitant to fold to your pushes?

How does that work??? If you're being ultra-aggressive with pushes, you will usually have the worst hand when called...but the amount you make from blind steals + the times you suck out should more than make up for it.
