I play in many different games, and unless its on the net, these are 1 table tourneys. I am fairly successful, but one question I have to keep asking myself is this: Say I flop top pair at a very loose table 4 handed. Flop is two spades and a club, I dont hold a spade. Do I over bet to get the flush draws out, or just bet normally, then if no help comes on the turn, bet bigger?

I do not claim to be an expert, but IMHO I bet enough to give him the incorrect odds to draw to the flush.

If no help comes for him, I do the same on the turn.

Yes, this is how i normally play, but most of the games I play in, the players dont understand the odds, and will call just about anything. I am thinking I should maybe just bet small, keep them in, and if it does come I dont lose much, but if it doesnt, I may have them commited to call a big bet on the river.

Doesn't matter if they understand the odds or not. If you make the correct play every time, you will come ahead in the long run, whether they make the correct play or not.
