I had a chance to meet up with the chief Friday night and play 3/6 at a casino. We were at a pretty interesting table with a good mix of player types. Well...most of you know that chief is a great player..but (mushy), he's also a great guy and makes playing cards for hours a lot of fun with his conversation and sense of humor. We didn't have many showdowns against one another, but this one we at least got to see each other's cards.

I was MP3 with J /images/graemlins/diamond.gifT /images/graemlins/diamond.gif and chief was the BB. There was 1 caller, and I limped, then folded around to the chief who checks.

The flop was QQ2 (with two diamonds). The chief bets, I believe the other limper called (might have folded), and I called.

Turn: T /images/graemlins/spade.gif

chief bets, limper folds, I wanted to call with one pair and FF, but I folded and the chief shows me K4o /images/graemlins/laugh.gif

That tricky little...

We laughed, and I said "Well, at least we have a story now."

Then he ordered another beer...

Did you really have a flush draw too?

All I can say is...Respect!

I like beer.

A fun night for sure. At least you left me with a few checks, unlike Mtdoak. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

Just because you weren't invited is no reason to rip on our thread.

I really did! I was looking down at that dinky little pot, thinking....it's just not worth it. I really put you on a queen there. Yeah...too much respect /images/graemlins/grin.gif

I could find a raise on pretty much every street.

I hear ya...

I didn't want to raise PF, because I wanted more in the hand.

I wanted to raise the flop, but I didn't see the chief giving me a free card (we talked about how the free card play worked so well there previously) and if he did have the Q, I would get 3 bet, which I wasn't interested in.

Turn - can't believe I laid it down...honestly.

I played it like a true wus.

You wouldn't have gotten a free card if I had 33. Although you may have with my K4. /images/graemlins/grin.gif

Switch roles...

How would you have played that hand against me when I'm in the BB betting into you and the fat hat man on the flop? (I don't think you would have raised that hand PF at that table, right?)

You're in MP3. I think raising is probably better than calling here -- there aren't that many more limpers you're going to get to come along.

I would have limped preflop. But I think raising would actually be better. I just raise preflop with less at that game. I find that raising preflop my normal amount gets people a little upset and like I told you I just play that for entertainment more than profit. So I usually play looser and a little more passive preflop than I normally would and then attempt to play well postflop.

I would call the flop and raise the turn if I were you there. If you think about it you'd know that I would bet the flop and turn with any pocket pair or duece. I thought you called the flop with a low pocket pair and that a follow up bet had some value. If I knew you had JT diamonds I would have checked out chucking my cards into the muck and immediately ordered another beer and smiled because I wouldn't think there was any chance of you folding.

edit...actually calling the turn would be best. But folding was bad. /images/graemlins/grin.gif

Well, according to SSHEFI*, i'd raise PF, ask that the limits be removed on the turn, and go all in on the river.

I wouldn't have folded to God, though, for one bet.

*Small stakes hold em for idiots.
