Many posts or threads about SNG strategy talk about what to do when you are "short stacked." Is there a generally accepted definition of what it is to be "short stacked" as opposed to just being the "low stack" at the table. Or is there no difference?

One of the strategies I read said that if you commit more than 40% of your stack by raising 3xBB, and you have playable hand to enter the pot, you should just go all-in. Are you not considered short stacked before that?

I think "short-stacked" is generally considered less than 10xBB.

EDIT: Obviously at Party Poker, you become short-stacked very quickly because of the size of the starting chip stacks and the quickness with which the blinds are raised. I'm more familiar with MTT terminology.
