Assume you flop four to a nut flush. Your probability of making it by the river is 0.35 but if you miss the turn, your river probability approaches 0.18 - my question: should you conceptualize your play on the flop as inclusive of both the turn and the river, leading you to play the river having missed the turn, or should you give it up once you miss the turn assuming your odds at that juncture fail to justify the play. This has been bugging me for years.

Certain times when you're at the flop, you can be very sure you're gonna see your draw through to the river. If that's the case, you can play with the "turn and river" odds of hitting, often causing you to stuff the pot. When the turn comes a blank however, you should probably check/call unless you've got some fold equity.
