View Full Version : PLO big hand?

I'm playing .25/.50 blinds PLO on PP. I have 11. Early raise to $1, 3 callers, and I have AQQJ no suits. I called. Raised behind me to 5, and about 3 calls to me. I go all in for 10 more (numbers are approximate). So was I right to call the initial dollar? Is my hand big enough to re-raise keeping in mind that several are already in? Too small to play at all? When it got back around to me I figured that my hand was maybe best (might not be, but most of these players play trash), and if not, I'd have more than my share of equity with all the competition. Therefore, I went all-in. Should I have interpreted the raise behind me to mean that my hand was no good and folded?

The other players hand:
Td 2d Ts Qs
Jc 4h Jh 7c
Qd 8d Kd Kc

So lastly, were any of those other hands better than mine? Who had the most equity pre-flop?

Thanks Guys,
-MD

You ain't looking so good. Folding was the best option.

Someone already ran the numbers for you, but you should realize that with your queens dead, and no flush possility, you don't have much of a chance of winning this pot.

But you don't know your queens are dead when you're making this decision, so lets look at it. You're not going to lose anyone by going all-in (especially since I think there can't be a big (4th) raise behind you on PP). Also, one of the raisers is very likely to have AA or probably KK. I would likely have folded. You can find better places to put your money. When I play with people who play garbage, I find it's best to try and get in cheap and see if I can flop gigantic draws, redraws, and freerolls. If they play garbage and raise constantly pre-flop then you can afford to wait for a true pre-flop monster.

Thanks guys. The numbers that Lurker contributed were very informative, but I'm more interested in knowing how each hand does individually against *random* hands. In other words, I want to know how good the hands are in general, not in this specific situation. I'll be sure to give it up early next time. Was my hand even worth calling the first raise?

Against 3 random hands, the numbers look like:

AQQJ no suits: 30.9%
QTT2 double suited: 31.6%
JJ74 double suited: 30.8%
KKQ8 double suited: 31.7%

So they're all close and they're all better than random.

This isn't really useful information, though. Your opponents do not have random hands, they have hands to raise with or call a raise.

Also, I should mention that Paradise has removed the 3-raise cap now, so you can indeed be reraised heavily behind, contrary to what Manhattan Jac said.

I wish they would make clearer announcements when they change the rules, though!

Guy.
