Why raise the flop? Pot is small, you may be behind and you may not have very good outs if clean. Call the flop and see what develops on the turn. I'd raise the turn if it looked safe.

Raising seems fine. If the opponent has a flush draw our hero is ahead..if opponent has an 8 he has 6 clean outs with fold equity on the raise...if opponent has a 9 well good for him..if opponent is bluffing raising is definitely best.

Hero is acutally an underdog to any two clubs. And about even money to JT with no flush card. Hero has to have the best hand against a pure bluff more frequently OR get a free card A LOT for the raise to be OK in a pot this small, IMO.

IMO, I fold far more marginal hands postflop than the typical party poker 2/4 player, and I'm not ready to let my 8 go yet. Most won't fold, EVER.
