I limp in from MP with hands like A9s (I'm not proud of it, but I do it). How do you play this hand when you flop top pair? If the flop is rainbow and without obvious straight draws (boards containing TJ and such) I'll sometimes bet but slow down if I get called and fold to a raise. Sometimes I check and fold to a pot bet/call a small bet.
If there are two cards to a flush on the board and I have 3 or more opponents I always check. I'll fold to a pot bet in this situation but I'll bet the turn if they check behind on the flop and a blank falls (pot bet). This way I can give draws bad odds on the turn without investing too much money when I have a weak hand. What do you think about this?
