View Full Version : On verge of losing everything that I made on SNG's

I've made $300 on SNG's and now I'm on the verge of losing nearly all of it due to all these bad beats.

I've lost $150 of it today. These are $30 buy-in but my god .

I think some sharks have moved into my territory.

Wow, a 5 buy-in losing streak. That's rough. Let me see if Hallmark makes a card for that.

1) If you feel you have to whine, gloat, bitch, or cry, just put NO CONTENT in the subject.

2) A 5 buy-in downswing may be a record for a "whining about bad run" post.

3) If $150 is a lot to you, you absolutely should not be playing above the $5.50/$6's.

'nuff said.

NINE BUY-INS DOES NOT A BANKROLL MAKE!

i mean, in general, most people don't consider suicide til they lose a large % of their/their family's net worth, but for people who like to make bitchy posts, i think that exceptions probably can be made.

Those assholes just gave you a free lesson on how not to lose your next $150. I'd thank them.

"These are $30 buy-in but my god "

I'm sorry but are you serious??

My last 500 (total 550) sngs have been breakeven thanks to variance. This includes 2 20 unit drops and a 30 unit drop. This is at the $33s. I experienced a 10 buyin drop at the $55s (nothing). Ok so I also experienced 2 40 buyin winning trends, but I have been sh@t* on compared to what you are going through /images/graemlins/smirk.gif
If I made a thread about this experience (which is much worse than yours) I'd probally get berated.

Just be prepared for things to experience alot worse.

*no link, just a silly thing the page does because of the 'at' symbol.

If you experienced that big of a downswing, how do you know you're a winning SNG player ?

"If you experienced that big of a downswing, how do you know you're a winning SNG player ?"

Even though my results haven't been nearly as good as I'd hoped for, they're still positive over a decent sample. When I consider the number of times I've been outdrawn, I'm very confident I'm profitable at the $33 level. I also picked up Irie as a coach when I started (just finished the 500 for him) and I've definately sharpened up on game theory and how I think about sngs. If I wasn't profitable to begin with, he would have let me know (since he only profits if I win over 500 sngs, it's in his best interests to be honest and improve me play). I feel like I'm alot more knowledgable now. I also understand variance and what a b!tch it can be. I'm honest about how I view my results.

I'll also add that I think the way Irie helped me most was understaying the 'why'. I read most the of hand/situations posted on this board and my conclusion is usually the same as the regular posters (by these guys I mean the obviously skillful). When my thoughts are different to theirs, there is usually 1 or more of them thinking the same way as me anyway, which isn't too bad, and is usually because we just overlooked something. This alone makes me feel pretty confident that I'm a winning player (at $33s and below).

As frustrating as it is to experience a bad run early on, it does condition me for the variance I'll be experiencing in the future. It also causes me to anaylze my game and motivates me to improve it much greater than if I'd run hot.
