8 handed 50/100 game. The game is mildly aggressive, there is a good deal of isolating, most pots are 3 to 4 handed for 2 to 3 bets.

A reasonable UTG player limps, your next with KQo.

It sounds like an obvious isolation raise here, no? The hands that dominate you would normally raise UTG.

I'd need to have a good read on him to play this hand. Unless I've seen him play a fair amount of hands, I'm mucking. If I have seen him play a lot of hands and he hasn't limp-reraised, I would be inclined to raise.

In a game like the one you described, KQo UTG+1 is an automuck, and I don't care who limped in front me. If this same player limped UTG and its folded to me in the hijack, its an autoraise. This EP however, there is far too good of a chance of getting 3 bet and being forced to play a marginal hand stuck between 2 aggressive players. This is a fold for me everytime.

I raise. You usually need a K or Q to flop to make this hand work, but AQ and AK will usually reraise preflop in a fairly aggressive game and you can be adequately warned about this risk.

Given 3-4 to the flop this is a fold, if it was suited I would raise this 90% of the time....I would never flat call suited or non-suited.....jmho

I think this is completely a function of how good the game is. I actually limped in this spot with KQo at 80/160 the other day becaues there were 2 guys behind me who were just giving it away. Here is how the hand went down, to show you why getting involved here can work out.
UTG limps, I limp KQo, Phil Hellmuth (donkey #1) raises, donkey #2 calls from the blinds, utg and me call.
Flop JT3. Donk#2 checks, utg bets, i call, hellmuth raises, donk #2 calls, utg 3 bets, I call 2 cold, hellmuth calls, donk #2 calls.
Turn 9. Check, bet, I raise, hellmuth folds, donkey now checkraise 3 bets, utg caps. I call with the nuts. Donk calls.
River J. Donk checks, utg bets, I kill myself and call, donkey calls.
donky has Q8. UTG has 33.
Just because it isn't 15/30 doesn't meant it isn't partypoker.

I think paluka's game is an exception. for me this would be a much almost all of the time.

reasonable UTG limps, I think my equity with KQo vs myself if i were to limp UTG would be terrible, not too mention 6 left to act behind...

I don't feel I could play this situation profitably.

raise.

Try to get it as shorthanded as possible.

getting 3-bet would suck, but you raised an UTG limper so that might induce some mediocre better hands, i.e. AJ to fold.

also table image dependent.

Just as a quick recap 8 handed 50/100

resaonable UTG limps, and you raise KQo, you are called by an MP player and the blinds and then the UTG player. The 3 cold callers can be described as "the action".

5 handed to the flop: (10 sb)

A/images/graemlins/heart.gif 7/images/graemlins/club.gif Q /images/graemlins/heart.gif

(you have the K of hearts)
UTG bets into you. you?

are you willing to take this to showdown if you don't improve?
