Are you lying under oath if your lawyer reads a statement from you and it is a false statement? I'm watching SportsCenter and Sammy Sosa is the only one to have his lawyer read his statement to the committee.

Yes you would be lying and I believe that was only because he has trouble with his english.

Does Sammy Sosa live in the DR during the off-season? Because if not... Why can't he speak English fluently?

I'm pretty sure he can, but his accent is very heavy.

Maybe he didn't see how being fluent in English helped him hit a baseball better.

The obvious answer to this is that it would enable him to more readily understand the printed labels on his steroids.

I'm fairly certain it could help him make more money, though.

This is much more clever than my reply.

True. 17 million a year doesn't go as far as it used to.
Poor guy might have to get a part time job or something.
Maybe somebody can help him fill out the job application form.

It sure as hell doesn't go as far as all the money he could be making from endorsements.

Sammy Sosa's family was very poor and he grew up in an abandoned hospital. He started playing baseball at a young age, and at times used a folded milk carton for a glove as he could not afford a real one.

Now, making 17 million a year, I doubt if he lays awake at night worrying about how much MORE he could have.

Understandable. I'm just thinking if I knew I could make millions of dollars by learning another language, I'd get on that immediately... But then again, I don't make 17 already. /images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Maybe you should become more fluent in Spanish. Look what it has done for Sammy.
