No, it is because he has stated all along that he NEVER used steroids, then when he is in front of a Congressional Sub-committee and under oath, all he can say is "no comment". He didn't lie today, he has been lying all along.

We have a VP who had secret energy policy meetings with crooks from Enron, and refuses to disclose what was talked about ...

We have people in the White House, who leaked information and outed a CIA spy, which is a treasonable offense ...

We have shady dealings with Military Contractors and the Pentagon, costing millions and millions of dollars ...

Using all their powers of investigation, Congress focuses on grilling a bunch of baseball players.

Now THAT should make you mad.

The above belongs in the Politics forum. And I didn't say I was mad, I merely stated what I think about McGwire.

Palmeiro, Thomas, and Schilling all came out and said flat out they haven't taken steroids, the congressman from Baltimore pointed out that McGwire was the only one other than Canseco to not say he hasn't used them. He then asked if McGwire wanted to comment and all he did was shake his head like a little kid who knew he was in trouble.

"Are you pleading the fifth?"

"I'm not here to discuss the past, I'm here to discuss the positive"

As in that's a positive that you've taken steroids?

Russ McGinley
03-17-2005, 05:46 PM
Close. Actually he meant "positive drug test". Sadly, Big Mac doesn't understand that "positive" in this case is bad.

"Is using steroids cheating?"

Schilling: "Yes"
Palmeiro: "Yes"
McGwire: "That's not for me to determine."

"For you, is using steroids cheating?"

McGwire: "That's not for me to determine."

Everybody flat-out denied ever using steriods except for Canseco, who came right out and admitted to using them, and McGwire, who would not say anything other than "I'm not here to discuss the past".

He may not discuss it but I have to say that I absolutely look at him in a different light today. In my mind his accomplishments are tarnished.

As for Palmeiro & Sosa if they swore to not using under oath than I am willing to take them at their words until evidence says otherwise.

"My message is that steroids are bad," McGwire said. "Don't use them. I will do everything I can, if you allow me, to say this to young people."

But how did he know they were bad, one panel member asked him.

"I've accepted my attorney's advise not to comment on this issue," Mr. McGwire said.

Oooh. That didn't look good.

i found palmeiro to be quite honest. i actually believe him when he says that he has never used steroids. he seemed very interested in trying to clear his name, and was interested in any anti-steroid policy that the congress could create. sammy sosa has obviously taken steroids, and his bs was laughable.

i dont know why you guys are insulting big mac, i found him to be quite honorable and really respected his monologues. maybe he didnt openly admit to using steroids, but its clear that he has regrets and made it painfully obvious that he did use steroids, but didnt want to actually confess to it for politcal reasons, which i entirely accept.

curt schilling has never used steroids right? is he being accused of steroid abuse? i thought that pitchers are not steroid users because it hurts their healing curve when they wear out their arms.

I believe schilling is there (as is thomas) because he's so outspoken against steroid use.
