View Full Version : (Cross-post from Zoo) Should I hook my monitor up to new video card?

Prior to purchasing my new video card and second monitor, I had my (only) monitor hooked up to the normal monitor port on my computer. Standard.

Now that I have a new video card and second monitor, I have my primary monitor installed into the same video port it was before, and the secondary monitor plugged into the VGA output of the video card. The DVI output on the new video card is unused.

Am I missing out on something by not having both monitors running out of my new video card? (I have a DVI->VGA converter.)

unless one of your monitors is dvi, it shouldn't really matter.

I hope this cross-posting of threads from the Zoo comes to an end very soon.

Well, we should have a computer hardware forum now.

I just spent a week trying to get both monitors to work off the new video card. Most frustrating thing I've ever done.

A friend suggested that I re-install the original video driver (which EVERYONE told me had to go), and plug a monitor into the old plug...and it worked like a charm.

And yes, this entire story is A CROSSPOST FROM THE ZOO.
