Heres a hand from a $320 stars sit and go. The table was generally very aggressive.

A read on "pjiff" specifically is helpful, but if he's as aggressive as the rest of the table...push.

The rest of the table was very aggressive, I didn't recall seeing as much action from him however.

Hmmm...in that case I push...WITHOUT the smile on my face.

I fold. Even with the aggressive stuff.

Well I don't think you've got any fold equity and you're probably facing a coin flip or severely dominated. I'd wait for a spot to be the initial aggressor - the blinds aren't crazily big yet and if its a normal Stars (non-turbo) SnG then you can afford a bit more patience.

The key behind this question imo is folding equity. If you think he could be opening light in late position then it's a good move to push, especially considering that the button and blinds will give you credit for a very big hand and fold a lot of hands that you want out.

However if you haven't seen this player playing particularily aggressive and you think he is a decent observant opponent it would somewhat be foolish for him to open a hand for a quarter of his stack that he will not call an all in with since this table is particularily aggresive.

I would fold.

Would you say the more agressive a table is, the more chips you need to have fold equity?

I'm thinking the higher the buyin the lower your edge blah blah push. He doesn't need to be hyper aggro to be raising any ace.

This'd be a better question with 33.

For those that are curious I did go allin and he called and showed AKo. It was against my natural instincts go move allin.

There are lots of factors that contribute to how much folding equity you have, your own chips being only a small one of them. This topic really deserves a seperate thread if you want to discuss it in more detail.

FE aside, the one thing we're failing to consider here is Curtains' reads. Specifically, we have an aggressive table, with a rock who opens with one quarter of his stack. What range of hands would you put this player on?

I think your motivation to push this hand is because you're getting anxious. Be patient, wait for a better hand and let the others knock each other out. It's still 7 handed. This rock has just positioned his stack like tanks on the plains, ready to fire. He is ready to do battle, he likes his hand. My range is AQ+, 77+. Your hand sucks here. Be patient.

While I am a big proponent of folding equity in SNGs, the fact that he is a rock, won't change his mind if you had his stack covered. FE is irrelevant here.

If this raise came from one of the more aggressive players, who have played a number of hands, I would consider playing this hand. If there were only 4 players left, I would consider playing this hand.

I believe I should have folded here.
