I need to finally get rid of this crap.

I don't know anything about DSL or cable, but am doing some research now. Looking for any opinions or suggestions.

I'm not too worried about the difference in speed since anything is going to be a whole hell of a lot faster than my dialup.

I'm worried about this:
1) Cost: monthly and setup fee.
2) I have a laptop and like to take it around the house. Can I get a wireless setup with either of these? Cost differences between the two?

just call your local cable co and phone co and see what they cost. it's different everywhere. wireless works with either one. u just need a router.

I had cable and it was crap but from what I understand some cable companies have better service than others.

I switched to DSL a year and a half ago and the connection has never ever gone down. Not once.
