View Full Version : Any micro-limit home players use 12.5 cent chips?

I play a relatively low micro-limit home game and have been tossing around the idea of getting rid of having separate chips for 5c, 10c, 25c, 50c and reducing one color. Can't exactly use 10c, 25c, 50c without having to deal with the occasional 5c gap that occurs. My thoughts were to switch to 12.5c, 25c, 50c denominations. Anyone else use a 12.5 cent chip out there? I've seen some old casino chips that use to use the 12.5 cent denomination but they are long gone. (Ya I know we play for peanuts - but we just like keeping it a friendly game).

I assume you are talking about for small blinds? The smallest stakes we play is .25/.50 and rather than worrying about .05 and .10 chips for the small blind we set small and big to .25.

we used to use 12.5¢ chips for the ante in my old weekly Seattle game. (years ago) 25¢ for us was too much, and 5¢ was too small. Keep in mind, we didn't do this because of "blinds," we hadn't heard of blinds at that time. we just ante'd "one bit" and the betting limit was "two bits."

they weren't denominated, but we definately used them. We called 25¢ "two bits." At the time I used white's as "two bits" 25¢ and red as 12.5¢. I had a few blue for $1 chips. We didn't need any more than three colors.

Actually thats just 1 of the ways we would use them but we also play dealers choice and 12.5c chips would be the usual lowest bet allowed for any type games. Most of the guys only bring from $10-$20 to the table for a night of cards.
