Hand #1 First orbit at table no read on villain.

Preflop: Hero is MP2 with A/images/graemlins/heart.gif, A/images/graemlins/diamond.gif.
<font color="#666666">2 folds</font>, UTG+2 calls, <font color="#666666">1 fold</font>, <font color="#CC3333">Hero raises</font>, <font color="#666666">5 folds</font>, UTG+2 calls.

Flop: (5.50 SB) Q/images/graemlins/club.gif, J/images/graemlins/spade.gif, 8/images/graemlins/spade.gif <font color="#0000FF">(2 players)</font>
UTG+2 checks, <font color="#CC3333">Hero bets</font>, UTG+2 calls.

Turn: (3.75 BB) 9/images/graemlins/club.gif <font color="#0000FF">(2 players)</font>
UTG+2 checks, <font color="#CC3333">Hero bets</font>, UTG+2 calls.

River: (5.75 BB) Q/images/graemlins/heart.gif <font color="#0000FF">(2 players)</font>
<font color="#CC3333">UTG+2 bets</font>, Hero ????

What do I do on the river, UTG+2 is representing trip queens, but could be bluffing because he has missed his spade flush draw?

Hand #2 SB will often bet out on the flop as a bluff, no read on the other players.

hand 1 i'd call and expect to lose

hand 2 - villian following CDC's standard hand 101? I don't much like your line on this hand but by the river I think you have to call. then again i'm about 95% sure you're beat so maybe just muckem.

1. This could go either way. In higher limits, I think this is an easy raise. At .5/1, it's about even. I may raise this, but I may just call. What do you put UTG+2 on. Q w/ weak kicker? Might play like this if opponent is pretty weak post flop. I would like to think that UTG+2 would have bet out or c/r you on the flop w/ TP, but I know this doesn't happen 100%. It's a good bluff card, and you do have a decent hand. don't forget that the board is 4-straight, so a T would play like this if they think they are maximizing their win. In this situation w/ the board 4-straight and paired, I might just call.

2. Call. You could be up against A w/ better kicker, but chances are better that you lost to a flush.

Hand 1: I would call. I don't think villian would check-call top pair HU, especially with such a coordinated board. He would probably raise the turn if he had the straight. Also, you'd be surprised players will bluff in this type of situation.

Hand 2: This is a less obvious call I think. But HU it's hard to put him on just a flush draw based on his play, you still have TP, medium kicker. I would still probably call.

I call and expect to win more than 25% of the time here. The Q is the perfect bluff card.

I'd be calling both hands, although crying about it.

Thanks for the replies, I called both hands and lost them both and then wondered if I should have called either but after reading the thread then I think I was probably correct to call. In hand 1 my opponent had KQ and won with trip queens and in hand 2 my opponent had the flush.

Don't worry about hand 1 - if he'd played it correctly, you would have lost more. Nice hand.
