Say a stranger tells you a story, "the other day one of us, I won't say if it was me or if it was my wife, accidentally dropped the baby. Thankfully the baby was OK."
Assume that if the other person had dropped the baby, he would have mentioned which of them had done it. Also, assume each parent has equal baby-handling skills and handles the baby for an equal amount of time. Which is more likely to have dropped the baby?
In otherwords, are people more likely to cover up embarrassing details for their spouse or for themselves? Is the answer different for men than women?
