3 bet the flop for starters. If I were villain id raise with an 8 in my hand or other mid pocket pairs. And Id bet into him on the turn.

Villain is solid, eh? I have to disagree.

You must 3-bet this flop. Seeing as you didn't, check raise the turn, but not 3-betting the flop is bad. Lead the turn.

What is a solid player doing coldcalling in the cutoff against just the raiser? I think your read is off.

It is difficult to think of too many hands that Villain could hold in the cut off that he would be like this. He could have 88 or 99, but it is too early in the hand for you to assume this on the flop. It is more likely that he has either a pocket pair and is trying to scare you off if you have AK, or has two big overcards with a flush draw. I would three bet the flop to find out just how confident he is. His check on the river suggests that he doesn't have you beaten.
