Hi, this place is awesome. I go to college and want to learn how to play poker. I am going to start 25 threads. One from each of the last 25 tournaments I have played. Thanks everyone.

I heard that GauchoFish was bankrolled for free so I want you to teach me for free. It would be cool to not have to think at all and when I lose I can blame it on you guys because you are teaching me.
(Gauchofish you are totally lame)

#1. Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t50 (9 handed) converter (http://www.selachian.com/tools/bisonconverter/hhconverter.cgi)

UTG+1 (t1405)
MP1 (t895)
MP2 (t715)
MP3 (t720)
CO (t855)
Button (t1175)
SB (t1085)
Hero (t1070)
UTG (t2080)

Preflop: Hero is BB with 8/images/graemlins/heart.gif, T/images/graemlins/heart.gif.
2 folds, MP1 calls t50, 3 folds, Button calls t50, SB completes, Hero checks.

Flop: (t200) 6/images/graemlins/heart.gif, T/images/graemlins/spade.gif, J/images/graemlins/heart.gif (4 players)
SB bets t80, Hero calls t80, MP1 calls t80, Button raises to t1125 (All-In), SB folds, Hero calls t940 (All-In), MP1 folds.

Turn: (t2505) 8/images/graemlins/diamond.gif (2 players, 2 all-in)

River: (t2505) 8/images/graemlins/spade.gif (2 players, 2 all-in)

Final Pot: t2505

My thoughts: I thought it was the right play considering my outs. It might have been to early in the tournament though.

I think the first call is fine considering what a weak bet SB made, but I'm folding to the all-in. All you have is middle pair/crappy kicker and a baby flush draw. Plus you have a player to act behind you that might go all-in as well (this is the 11s, after all, right?). I'll wait for a better spot...

Good idea, bad execution... You introduce youself, and then take a shot at another "member." Is being mad at GF the "cool" thing to do now? First impressions are very important...

As for the hand... Yes, you are right, do not put in your money as a marginal favorite early...

Post away. Try to give your threads informative subjects like "Flopping a 4-flush and middle pair off the BB," or something like that. Also, mention what buy-in level.

For this hand: Ug. No. You will hit that flush about one out of three times, so even if you assume you win every time you hit it (which may not be true if your opponent has better hearts or the board pairs). You've got two more outs to trip tens, and there's some chance your pair is actually good, but it's not nowhere near close enough to a call.

Nice suckout though. /images/graemlins/grin.gif

EDIT: BTW I was talking about the all-in flop call. The first flop call is marginal I think, but not too bad.

EDIT #2: I didn't realize this was a 215, so you can easily ignore my advice. I figured since you were in college you'd play Top Ramen levels rather than Filet Mignon.

I think calling the allin is fine. However I would have raised after the original 80 chip bet.

For those that want to fold to the allin, realize that this is a $215 sit and go (meaning they are much harder to outplay later) and there are 450 dead chips in the pot. Also note that you are 51% against AJo, which is quite a reasonable hand for him to have.

Thanks for the posts.

Is this really that easy of a fold? I thought my hand might have been the best considering all the outs. I did not think that a pair of 10's would hold up.

(Note on hand: I was about a 65% favorite)

PS: I am sorry to J-Lo gaucho fish and everyone else I offenced. I will not do it again I promise.

And to Slim: Don’t apologize for my lack of detail /images/graemlins/grin.gif

I already said that calling was fine and I think it's probably correct in that exact situation. However I hate calling the original 80 chip flop bet, you should be raising there.

o chit, didn't know this was a $215... Though this was a $10+1. I'm a $27 fish. I guess you hafta push marginal edges up at the $215's. Are the higher level SNG's playe more like MTT, where u are supposed to push every edge u have?

BTW for the record, i don't like GF, but i also don't not like him. I don't know him so i have nothing against him.

I am playing 10 10/1, 10 20/2 and 10 30/3 tonight. I will take in all the suggestions and post tomorrow. Thanks everyone. Good night.

Kid... quit confusing people. Just play 30 10's. That way we won't constantly wonder. Not that there's a functional difference. It's just easier to keep track.
