I won the 915pm Double Shootout last night after qualifying for $15 in the $5 turbo qualifer on Stars. Wow does it feel good locking up a seat early. Good luck to everyone else and I hope to see some of you there in July.

I observed much of the final table. You played nice sound poker throughout. Must have been bummed there at the end against the set. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

What exactly was the deal you two made anyway? I didn't catch it.

Congrats! Plan on getting geared up myself this weekend for my seat, not sure which way to go yet (DS, 33, 650, pull a MLG and win the 215 and buy my way in)

lol, I don't plan on buying my way in. Heopfully I'll win my seat, if not I'll some decisions to make. Regardless, I fully intend to be there.

I don't think I would buy in either (or my wife would let me for that matter), but that pay day does at least open up a couple of more options. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

Congrats!

I played in one of the 1000 FPP PokerStars WSOP Sats last night. Ended up coming in 4th. Not bad considering I'm not really a tournament or NL player, but what a tease lol. I haven't decided if I'm going to keep trying.

Thanks guys, lots of close calls for you all. I think the Double Shootout is the best way to go or the the $650 sunday super sattelite. I cant imagine playing the $33 rebuy and beating 500 players and not winning a seat. Still have plenty of time to win, pokerstars should send around 1k players when all is said and done.

Ok, I thought that's what it was, but wasn't sure. Nice little consolation price for about 2 seconds of negotiation.

Top two pair vs a set on the flop. Fantastic river for you. It woulda been something like 4:1 or so in his favor if you lose that... though I'm probably off.

Regardless, $500 cash, the seat, and (presuming you wear the gear) 9 days hotel stay. Not too shabby for 3-4 hours of play.

To put some perspective on this, last year they sent 300 players. The $33 I won for my seat only had 181 people in it. Already this year the $33's have been paying out 3-4 seats w/ 500+ players. So 1000 doesn't seem too far fetched, and I wouldn't be surprised if it's closer to 1200-1300.

Which sort of begs the question...due to the fact that the '03 and '04 champs came from PS, it's evident that PS has received more traffic, meaning more fish tossing their money in. Is this a good thing or bad thing, and would players be better off trying to qualify on a site with less traffic, even if it means the number of seats is reduced, but the % of winning a seat is a little better?

I considered the shootout satellites, but I don't want to go to the WSOP badly enough to pony up $160. If my bankroll was bigger, it wouldn't be a problem, but I'd rather keep grinding out the cash games and move up in limits. The 1000 FPP Round 2 satellites seem pretty decent to me, and since I don't have anything else to do with the FPP, that makes the most sense, I think. I just wish they'd do a few 10,000 FPP satellites where the entire final table gets a seat or something.
