Happens all the time - you need to check call it down.....offline if you are playing against someone who is known, and knows you (and you have a tight table image) betting out will also work sometimes (I do this occasionally if I know the opponent will fold a weak heart and only raise with the 1-3rd nut flush).....online no comments...

Whenever you are ...

heads-up
out of position
and a 4th flush card comes on the river

then bet and fold to a raise.

not when you have such strong showdown value and you cant get a smaller heart to fold. people dont fold small flushes online. against these types this is an easy check-call.

bet-call is better than bet-fold.

Not that I advocate it, but I'd like to know what people think about check-raising the river for fold equity.

easy bet. you really think sets/2 pair/etc are folding? or betting if you check?

according to that logic you might be right. i really didnt think that sets or 2pair would call at this point. if they do then betting is correct as long as they call with 2pair/set more often than they bluffraise.

The only time I would check is if my opponent is a habitual bluffer or if he were so passive that he would not value bet anything but the nuts.

Against most players, betting is correct since you are a bigger favorite when you bet and are called than when you check and call.
