30+3 on party today. I've regularly started limping my AK and AQ in the first two levels, hoping to get paid from worse aces when I hit and lose less when I don't.

What do you think about this play? Should I check behind on the turn when the flush comes, or should I perhaps valuebet this river? I got scared by his two calls and just hoped to win what was in the pot. Should I fold preflop?

I don't like that strategy of limping with those hands, especially AK. I think that is a mistake.

Please elaborate why.

I like the turn the bet and the check after the river. If you check the turn and the river is non-scary, you are showing weakness and someone with a worse hand may take the pot from you.

op had position on utg+1. he needs to value bet. furthermore, you need to get your good hands paid off early on in a sng. start raising with premium hands to do so and feign weakness when they hit.

I like your line all the way through. The only question is whether to value-bet the river, and I'm on the fence for that one.

In regards to limping AK, I really don't like it in any situation ever unless you are trying to limp/re-raise a super-agressive or something. AQ, on the other hand, I usually limp also unless I am LP and first-in or something.

The reason I didn't valuebet was the risk (or rather, fear) of running into a river raise-push. The board was rather scary, so that would have been impossible to call.

This specific hand, villain showed me AK for a very passively played TPTK. He sure made money from calling with that preflop... /images/graemlins/smile.gif
