Maybe I've been reading too many of Negreneau's columns or something, but I felt compelled to defend my blind with this hand. No reads, it's fairly early and no one has done anything out of the ordinary yet. The overbet had me confused, and I guess I figured that very few people would make this bet if they had a K, and I didn't think that anything less would call my reraise all in since everyone was in survival mode trying to get to the final 4. Thoughts?

brave bet - i admire that.

the higher steps are usually very tight early - i'd put the button on a mid pair with the bet or could be a K. you certainly represented a k. you're only screwed if he has 7s or a k with a good kicker. having said that, its your tournament life. i'd have probably folded and waited for a better opp

He paused for a while, and eventually called with K4. I boated on the river, but it didn't matter and I finished in 10th place. Did win the free step 1 though, so I'm moving back up. In retrospect, I really like his play. He should go broke should I have 77 or the case K with a better kicker, and his overbet feined weakness much better than simply checking behind would have. A regular pot size bet and I'd have been wary, but the overbet trapped me into way overplaying a much weaker hand.
