Here are some mock-ups of chips from pokerchips.com, done using Tabasco's generator (and thanks to SpaceMonkey for pointing out how to do the black ones). These are the colours I'm thinking of getting, so if you want to see more ... well, maybe pokerchips.com will update their site soon!

And here's green! These took about an hour each to make while 2-tabling limit at Party, by the way.

And finally red! I haven't done any Mandarin Red cos it doesn't come out that much different. I've been looking around for some photographic evidence, so I might post those if I find enough examples.

Hope these prove useful/interesting.

Someone should get pokerchips.com to use these on their website and do all of the colors. Maybe even use some drop downs to choose chip type, base color and edgespot color then they show you what the chip looks like after you click on generate chip.
That would be really cool. Hell if they read this forum I could do the code for them. Pretty simple actually. Just grab an image based on what the user selects.

Rob,

Great work once again. These mockups are extremely helpful for us photoshop deprived. Any chance of getting the blues done next?

Thanks in advance.

I was thinking the exact same thing. Very few edge spots look bad with the blsck. The green is much more limited.

these are the same colors available on horseheads correct? so just for color design I can pick and choose from these?

Yes, colors are the same regardless of the mold you choose.

As it happens, all my work is in vain - I've just bought a bargain set of original mold 'Casino de Isthmus' Paulsons on eBay - my dream chips - in fact, the ones I was modelling these on. Sorry, pokerchips.com!

Okay here's a quick blue guide. I refuse to do the roman mold though. /images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I was going to after I read that ... then scrolled down and realised I didn't have to. Thanks Monkey!

PS - The roman mold is the best by a mile!

How exactly DID you make the black chips?
Did you just change one of the existing colors? And if so, what settings did you use for it?

Yep - just duplicate any colour, then change the red, green and blue settings to (in this case) 35, 35 and 35.

Anyone know how to use this with Macromedia Fireworks or is there anyone out there willing to do all 315 color combinations for each mold and get them to so that I can host them on my website.

http://home.comcast.net/~poker_chips/

Click on ASM / pokerchips.com on the menu and then Chip Generator. You can choose Roman Black DGGreen and it will display that chip.

Format should be [MOLD][BASECOLOR][EDGECOLOR].gif
RomanBlackDGGreen.gif

I will gladly do the hard work if I could figure out how to do it.

That's really not a good way to do it from a programing stand point...

Are you really going to try and build the chip on the fly from the web? I guess you could do some sort of flash program. I am not the most talented web person but I think this would be easy to do and I have the space to hold all of the images. Have you got another way this could be done. I will gladly host it if it will run on my limited Comcast site.

Any ideas on working with Macromedia Firworks?

yeah flash would be easy, but you could do it without flash and a bit of javascript, I still need a good image of a blank horsehead chip.

For what it's worth, those colors aren't exactly accurate.
I got a few samples in the mail yesterday, and those colors used on the photoshop file are WAY too bright.

You can't compare colors on your monitor to the colors of a physical object. Everyone has different display settings (brightness/contrast/gamma etc).

The mockups are for general reference, not exact color matching.

The colors were taken directly from the samples they have on the web.
Someon mentioned pantone values for the colors I can certainly change them to that.

That was me. I'm pretty sure I found them buried here somewhere, but didn't keep the link. I saved them all, and will try and post them this weekend. I never confirmed them with pokerchips.com, FWIW.

This looks great, but I feel like an idiot, because I can't figure out how to work it. I've picked a color from both the spot and body drop downs, but the picture of the chips isn't changing. Any help is much appreciated.

probably a browser compatability issue,
I tried safari, and mac ie, firefox
looks like ie for windows sucks at png support.
i'll try some others.

Can I post a link to this on my review of pokerchips.com chips on Ten's ChipTalk Forum?

Very nicely done. Yes it is more elegant than my solution. /images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I will credit you fully. I know you were busy with the code but maybe you could pretty up the page a little.

FYI (IE can not handle this at all, Firefox works great.)

Thanks

The day-glo pink is a little off but in comparison to my other chips it is spot on.
I have a black/dayglo green, yellow/dayglo orangr, whit arc yellow, purple/dayglo yellow, green/dayglo pink

sorry I was guessing that if mac ie support png so would windows. I know they are different, but it seemed like that aspect would be the same.

And 95% of the people in this world are are dumb. The question is which percent do I fall in? /images/graemlins/wink.gif

PNG is an accepted standard of the w3c so I can understand why you thought you could use it. Instead of changing it you could have put "this site designed for Firefox, please upgrade your browser".... muahahaha.
