Ok Euro players, gauntlet has been firmly smacked in our faces, time to cast off the desire to continue stripping our American cousins of their hard earned at whatever level you fleece (I mean play) them at.

Time now to sign up and play for Motherland(s) ( /images/graemlins/grin.gif).

We will fight them on the flop, we will fight them on the turn, we will never surrender our BB /images/graemlins/wink.gif

Something to offend just about everyone !!!

Following complaints made to the USA-EURO International Poker Board about the USA performance of the 'Doughnut Taunt' before their games, the Board has now agreed the following pre-match rituals of their own.

A. The England team will chat about the weather, wave hankies in the air and attach bells to their ankles before moaning about how they think they invented the game, and gave it to the world, and how it's not fair that everyone can beat them now. Failing that they will see what the Americans are doing and join in.

B. The Scotland team will chant "You lookin' at me Jimmy?" before smashing an Irn Bru bottle over their opponents' heads.

C. Unfortunately the Committee were unable to accept the Welsh suggestion following representations from the RSPCA /images/graemlins/smile.gif.

D. Argentina will unexpectedly invade a small part of opposition flop, claim it as their own "Las In-Flopas-Areas" and then be forcibly removed by the England team.

E. Two members of the South African team will claim to be more important than the other 13 whom they will coral between the Blinds whilst they claim the rest of
the table for themselves.

F. The USA team will not attend until almost the final table /images/graemlins/wink.gif. In future years they will amend the records to show that they were in fact the most important team in the tournament and make lots of films to prove it - (2-1 /images/graemlins/smile.gif)

G. Five of the Canadian team will sing La Marsaillaise and hold the rest of the team to ransom.

H. The Italian team will arrive in bright red cars, harass the female Tournie Directors and then run away.

I. The French will declare they have new scientific evidence that the opposition are all mad. They will then park corgi lorries across deal area, let sheep loose in the opposition side of the table (unless playing Wales) and burn the officials. However they may not attend the World Cup at all as it involves the deployment of Frenchmen in another part of the world.

J. The Australians will have a barbie before negotiating lucrative singing and TV contracts in the UK. They will then invite all their mates to come and live with them in Shepherds Bush.

K. The Ireland team will split into two, with the Southern half performing a pre tournie Riverdance, while the Northerners march the Traditional route from their dressing room to the table, via their opponents' dressing room.

To arms /images/graemlins/shocked.gif /images/graemlins/grin.gif

Doc Physic asked "Nerd America? "

No, I said Nord America. it was an effort to use most of my European language. (sud, est, ouest) being the rest.

HOWEVER!!!!! I can see where you might have been drawn to your error.....our Fearless Leader is sporting a tinfoil hat.......which coincidently brings to mind the movie "King of Hearts". which is a referance so obscure I am probably the only one laughing. but I am my favorite audience.

hyde

OK, King of Hearts....foriegn film circa 1970. a town in France is about to be occupied by enemy troops, the towns people flee to the hills, leaving open the gate to the insane asylum. the residents of the asylum wander into town and take over ( usualy wordlessly) the townspeoples places. the occupiers can not tell the difference......very amusing movie.
the cartoon before the movie was "Bambi meets Godzilla". that was a very short cartoon.....

ok, time for decaf,

<font color="purple"> Scoring system for North America v. Europe III </font>
(Adapted from the weighted two team scoring system by Mike Haven, and the work done on the first two North America v. Europe games by DrPhysic. Thank you both, gentlemen).

NA = pyd/(yd+xe) North American Weighted Final Score
EU = pxe/(yd+xe) European Weighted Final Score

where:
NA = weighted final score of team North America
EU = weighted final score of team Europe
p = total available points
x = number of players in team NA
y = number of players in team EU
d = actual cumulative score of team NA
e = actual cumulative score of team EU
t = total number of players

CHECKS:
NA+EU= p
d + e= p
t = x + y

PLACE POINTS
1st = t points
2nd = t-1 points
3rd = t-2 points
etc

FINAL TABLE BONUS POINTS:
1st 20
2nd 16
3rd 14
4th 12
5th 10
6th 8
7th 6
8th 4
9th 2

EXAMPLE TOTAL INDIVIDUAL POINTS (if there are, for example, 50 players),
1st = 50 + 20 = 70pts
2nd = 49 + 16 = 65pts
50th = 1pt

Team Captains will check the spreadsheet before final points are announced.
<font color="red"> ONLY PLAYERS WHO HAVE SIGNED UP FOR A TEAM ON THE 1 TABLE TOURNAMENT FORUM OR PM’D A TEAM CAPTAIN BEFORE THE GAME STARTS WILL HAVE THEIR SCORES COUNTED TOWARD A TEAM SCORE! NO EXCEPTIONS! </font>

That prevents somebody declaring for the winning team after the fact. /images/graemlins/tongue.gif

For those who don’t want to work out the math, the scoring system rewards bringing a lot of friends, but it much more rewards placing highly.

Teams who have people who signed up on 1TTF and were not able to play will not be penalized. Only players who actually play will be scored.

Now here's the thing: We each play everyone else like they are our mortal enemy (fish, sucker, whatever) - no soft-playing teammates! /images/graemlins/mad.gif This has never been an issue in the past, and I'm sure it won't be this time, but it bears saying, as there have been questions and we have so many new posters since the last game. The team thing is for fun and bragging rights - and to prove once again that the eurodoughnuts are screwed. /images/graemlins/grin.gif

Oh, this is my 1000th post. Thank you to 2+2 and all the friends I have made here. Now sign up, register on Stars, and let's make this the biggest game yet!!! /images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Hi Code

Some of the EURO players you have question marks against are already registered on the tourney and on the forum.

Skjonne registered in post 1930347
Zoerac I registered in post 1946924
Stavros2 I registered in post 1957989 (He's me Dad!!!!)

JoachimJr confirmed again at the club that he's be signing up for EURO team but I see he hasn't yet. If he does sigjn up in time I registered him in post 1946796.

Praying Mantis emailed to say he will try to play but last heard he was going to be playing in Monte Carlo so depends if he's back in time.

Haven't heard from PartygirlUK or Squire.

Cheers

Hi Stoneii!

I just wanted to clarify a few things.

1. Any and all mistakes are mine, not Code's, as his assistant any fault should be blamed on me /images/graemlins/wink.gif (although in all honesty, Code is doing all of the work).

2. If players are listed under a team, then they have declared for that team (unless I managed to misplace them /images/graemlins/smirk.gif sorry ilya), but the question marks represent missing names: ? on the left means unknown 2+2 name, a ? on the right means missing Stars name. Unfortunately this wasn't as clear as it could be because the spread sheet spacing didn't paste into the post. So for example: Skjonne ? means unknown Stars name.

Thanks for keeping up with this, and may the best team win!
(or maybe I should say fishiest /images/graemlins/laugh.gif )

Hi Partygirl

It's just a standard MTT - play to win as in any MTT against ALL opponents - the points you score for the team are for bragging rights - you are still primarily out for yourself.

This should at least soften the need for people to "go easy" on teammates - you are still there to win the dosh for yourself - by doing so you will happen to score heavily for team Europe /images/graemlins/wink.gif

That said my name on stars is STONE_EYES and I love all Euro players /images/graemlins/grin.gif /images/graemlins/laugh.gif /images/graemlins/wink.gif /images/graemlins/tongue.gif

The strong voice ceas'd; for a terrible blast swept over the heaving sea;
The eastern cloud rent; on his cliffs stood Albions wrathful Prince
A dragon form clashing his scales at midnight he arose,
And flam'd red meteors round the land of Albion beneath.
His voice, his locks, his awful shoulders, and his glowing eyes,

Appear to the Americans upon the cloudy night.

Solemn heave the Atlantic waves between the gloomy nations,
Swelling, belching from its deeps red clouds &amp; raging Fires!
Albion is sick. America faints! enrag'd the Zenith grew.
As human blood shooting its veins all round the orbed heaven
Red rose the clouds from the Atlantic in vast wheels of blood
And in the red clouds rose a Wonder o'er the Atlantic sea;
Intense! naked! a Human fire fierce glowing, as the wedge
Of iron heated in the furnace; his terrible limbs were fire
With myriads of cloudy terrors banners dark &amp; towers
Surrounded; heat but not light went thro' the murky atmosphere

The King of England looking westward trembles at the vision

Albions Angel stood beside the Stone of night, and saw
The terror like a comet, or more like the planet red
That once inclos'd the terrible wandering comets in its sphere.
Then Mars thou wast our center, &amp; the planets three flew round
Thy crimson disk; so e'er the Sun was rent from thy red sphere;
The Spectre glowd his horrid length staining the temple long
With beams of blood; &amp; thus a voice came forth, and shook the temple

The morning comes, the night decays, the watchmen leave their stations;
The grave is burst, the spices shed, the linen wrapped up;
The bones of death, the cov'ring clay, the sinews shrunk &amp; dry'd.
Reviving shake, inspiring move, breathing! awakening!
Spring like redeemed captives when their bonds &amp; bars are burst;

Let the slave grinding at the mill, run out into the field:
Let him look up into the heavens &amp; laugh in the bright air;
Let the inchained soul shut up in darkness and in sighing,
Whose face has never seen a smile in thirty weary years;
Rise and look out, his chains are loose, his dungeon doors are open.
And let his wife and children return from the opressors scourge;
They look behind at every step &amp; believe it is a dream.
Singing. The Sun has left his blackness, &amp; has found a fresher morning
And the fair Moon rejoices in the clear &amp; cloudless night;
For Empire is no more, and now the Lion &amp; Wolf shall cease.

My 1st 2+2 game also.
This is a lot tougher crowd than I'm used to playing against. Great game Code, thanks again for setting it up.

PS Next time I got Jacks, so fold. /images/graemlins/grin.gif

No - thank you for playing. This is a community by and for the players. We all start somewhere, the ultimate goal is up to us, and we have fun doing it.

Done a very quick back of cigarette pack calculation and I think/hope team Euro has exacted some revenge in challenge III.

Regardless, well played all, as usual a great success enjoyed by everyone.

Thanks to Doc, Code (and his beautiful assistant Tax /images/graemlins/wink.gif)

Those who have been a tournament director understand how much work it is. If you haven’t it is hard to appreciate the number of hours that code and TG have put into this in the last two weeks. Stoneii has done his usual terrific job as European Team Captain.

We owe all three a vote of confidence and a thank you for a well run tournament.

Job well done guys!

I haven't seen the full results of the tourney anywhere. Can someone post a link in this thread if there is one? Or can you get it on Pokerstars?

Here are the official results of the tournament.

Stoneii said something in Irish that I think translated as "HOOOYAAAAH". And
code offered me a free entry into the next one if I forgot how to do this
post.

To all who played today, those who signed up and got stuck doing honeydo's instead, and those who missed the fun and wished they hadn't...

We have four 2+2 games every week. The "Euro" game on Tuesday afternoon 4:00pm Stars time, on Wednesday the "Atlantic" game at 8:00pm Stars Lobby time, the "Pacific" game at 10:00pm Stars time, all 18 player SNG games, and on Sunday the 2+2 MTT game at 1:00PM Stars Lobby Time.

Please come out and join the fun.

Very impressive morgan, it was more YYYYEEEEEEHHHHHAAAAAAAH but not a bad stab at a difficult translation /images/graemlins/wink.gif

Good game everyone and a very close result but I'm delighted to say the cup moves across the divide for a few months anyway!!

Thanks again for the hard work and the good turnout, I bullied my father into appearing in this for us, he's hooked now /images/graemlins/wink.gif, next one if we are short I may have to wheel in great Aunt Bertha to take a hand or two /images/graemlins/smile.gif

Well played fellow Europeans and congrats to everyone who took part and in particular those that made the final table.

The path is clear for EU's two champions to verbally strut their stuff on the 1TT forum /images/graemlins/grin.gif /images/graemlins/grin.gif

Ditto. Thanks to all the organizers - it was a great tournament and a great win for Europe.

As for the heads up, I am sure Tyler could smoke me nine times out of ten - I just got lucky with the right cards at the right times.

Thanks again to all who put this tournament together.
